I've ridden in a couple of X Type sedans that were really nice but all 4 wagons I've test driven rode like shit. The suspensions were shot, the steering was fkd up and the interiors were more worn than they should have been at the mileage the cars had on them. It's like the people that leased them had nice cars but pretty soon after those leases ended things just wore out and the cars felt like old Camaros with the Iron Duke 4.

The X Type was a Mondeo, wasn't it?

Bullshit. They made 7 wagons. There's no fucking way you rode in 4 of them.

Edit: They actually sold 1,602 over 4 years. I stand by my previous statement.

I'm tryin guys, but can't quite convince the wife after her parents own love/hate relationship with Saabs. Loved em and hated them for all the same reasons we know of. Still. A 9-5 Aero with a stick and 443 hp sounds like SSOOOOOO much fun.

More realistically, my wife actually wants me to go chase down this Volvo C30 R-Design 6MT. Looks sweet but need to talk to owner for more details before figuring out logistics. Aside from the rebuilt title which he seems to be up front about, you guys see any other red flags?

Haha. For real. Could be how I finally find a car I want at a fair price tho.

Talked to the guy for a long time today. Sent me more pics and talked to me about its whole history and emailed me Carfax report. Looks to be in pretty darn good shape. Have a buddy in the region who's gonna test drive it for me and Imma buy a one way plane ticket if this thing checks out.

The C30 is the only fwd car I'd buy (again). I miss that car, it was one of the most pleasant road trip vehicles I've ever owned, it was easy to drive and the easiest ever to park with the rear window just a few inches from the edge of the bumper, the seats are awesome and when it got broadsided on the driver's door I just crawled out the other side. Buy it.

What happens to this thread if you buy it? I'd assumed it was going to be a "Waiting for Godot" type thing.

Have you considered the benefits of a 2004 Mercury Sable Wagon?

You had me until "upgraded LED lighting inside and Xenon headlights, fog lights, side mirror turn signals" Unless you're going to be off grid, that shit is just fucking stupid. I don't trust stupid people.

Don't know about the led lighting (a common upgrade with Volvo owners from what I've seen), but according to the Carfax, the headlights and such may have actually been dealer upgrades so maybe they'll be ok? I guess worst case, I can replace with something else.

The type of person who replaces interior lights with LED bulbs is the same person who will wire a cell phone charger into the power seat controls and replace the idle air valve for one off of a Kubota because "I saw it on the internet." I want something as close to factory as I can find so I'm not chasing someone else's bullshit. Especially at 130k.

Also, apparently there was a software based "Polestar" tune the dealers offered for a couple grand good for an extra 20-something HP. Since I'm working on snagging my own Vida/DiCE setup anyway, perhaps I can do it myself fo cheap. Hehehe.

I hear ya. I do. That's why I have a friend and fellow Volvo fan checking it out in person today, and if good will send it to his local Volvo dealer for a pre-purchase inspection. So far, the sellers been awesome to work with. Very communicative and has been sending me pics of anything I've had questions about. Has been up front about sharing every little knick, scratch and otherwise. Buddy said we can facetime as he inspects the car today. Stoked.

I super want that Saab. Would be SO rad. Possibly the ultimate sleeper. Still have been unable to convince spousal unit. Could end up in same boat as seller if I buy anyway. Haha.

You can feel the guys pain of having to part with that car in the post. Car was probably simply valued at market for the asset split and that's that. Anybody here want that beast?

It's like you are concerned about the reliability of this fine automobile. I think you may have missed the point of this thread.

I hope for Mr. Fried' sake that the wiring is a complete cluster fuck of British proportions!
