One article I read mentioned something about Russia having to discount their oil because of the lack of buyers but isn't it a global commodity with a global price that everyone pays?
Europe is still buying it so your point is valid. However working as a coalition the world can shut them down...and that might take time if it ever gets there. But it just makes sense not to buy from the enemy.

However....going to another enemy...iran/Venezuela hardly makes sense either. Seems the current admin views them as friends and texas as the enemy, but what are you gonna do...politicians.. ha!

^^^OMG Sir Trumps a Lot actually said something I kinda agree with???? Is he hacked?? But on that note, even China is kinda an enemy in some regards.. Currently VZ and Iran aren't bombing children's hospitals... (Although it's arguable that Iran supports others who might).

Perhaps the "THEM" component in your "US vs THEM" is flawed?

I've always gone with honesty, integrity, and character when evaluating INDIVIDUALS...but whatever works for you!

Aside from that...CPI 7.9% yoy last month announced this morning. Wait until next month when the fuel prices get factored in for March numbers. "Transitory" is what I remember.

Re: Venezuela—Biden has kept the sanctions and recognizes the opposition leader. Main difference with previous administration is that he indicated last year he’d align with other countries to put more pressure on Maduro. So your comment doesn’t make sense, unless you’re only referring to a temporary strategy of getting oil where we can?

Re: impact of oil sanctions — buying big lots of oil is a huge financial commitment. Logically enough, buyers in W Europe are hesitating since it takes time to get the oil transported & they’d be fucked if the sanction came from country X Y Z before the shipment arrived. This why Russia is heavily discounting their oil…desperate for buyers. So yeah, as long as some major players impose or ‘consider’ sanctions, it helps fuck over Russia.

INDIVIDUAL A crosses an imaginary line in the dirt to flee a major economic crisis in their homeland ruled by violent drug lords so they can work menial labor jobs to safely raise their families, albeit undicumented..

INDIVIDUAL B smokes a little weed sometimes and drives a little faster than the speed limit sometimes.

Both on equal moral footing? Or, is one more of a criminal than the other deserving to be kicked out of the country?

Our corner of the globe is pretty self-riotous I'm afraid.

Fair point on the thread jack to polyass.. End of the day I don't like bullies, be it dumping on immigrants, or other marginalized, persecuted groups. That doesn't include the folks persecuted for being bigots though.. That is all

Back to bitching about fuel prices.. Rolling coal has gotten way too expensive, we need government regulation of the free market to fix that..

Old guy at the gas station just starts yelling about gas prices. Democrats are ruining everything and letting prices go crazy. I told him if he wanted the government to fix prices he should move to Cuba.

    To pile on:

My electric bill the past few years was about 100.00/or less a month. It’s now over +200.00. Same or less kWh from past months/years.

    My cable/internet bill was 180.00 a month….it now is 250.00. Same plans.

    Yes, it’s not just fuel.

I paid 1.754CAD/LTR at Costco in Fredericton, NB on Tuesday. I only bought 30L. I filled up in Houlton, ME on Wednesday at 4.199USD/Gal. So about a dollar less in Maine.
