If you need $5 of fuel to go buy duct tape you’re an idiot. I’m not singling you out, people complain about the dumbest shit

Same goes for chicks who insist on big SUVs for their 2 kids. I know of one such person who when telling me she was in the market for one, I told her "You know gas isn't going to be cheap forever, right? This is an anomaly. In a couple years that thing will be over $100 to fill and you'll be filling often." She didn't care, bought it anyway. Now she was telling me the other day how painful it is to fill, and it's put a strain on their finances. They are now considering selling the vehicle. On the plus side, the stupid thing is worth MORE now than when she bought it, so that's a win I suppose. And so long as SUVs are going for silly money on the uses market, gas prices have plenty of room to go up. Sorry, truck/suv drivers. You made your beds. (I'm speaking to the ones who don't actually NEED them that is. And no, suburban housewife, you don't "need" a Nissan Armada for your 2 year old and goldendoodle)

Well there he is himself. Howdy, Brock.

I dunno about straw men, the retired county sheriffs from Missouri who mostly populate thehulltruth.com are bitching hard and blaming Biden for it all.

Or that I laugh at people that are so unaware that they can't appreciate how fortunate they are when they bitch about things like lift lines and the cost of plane tickets to Mexico.

But I don't think you want to here that. So keep on keepin' on. I hope you had a nice weekend and did something fun. Seriously.
yeah foggy you could jerk yourself of in public, but that wouldn’t be much of a change

The "rich" always hedge against high oil prices, maybe the poors should emulate instead of whining:

Last month I accepted a new job that is going to require me to have a 100 mile daily commute for the first three months before my commute shrinks down to about 8 miles. I've got a Toyota Matrix to drive so I'll get by without awful pain but this timing is unideal.

The place I've been going for propane tank refills over the past 20 years finally increased their price. It was $15 for a 20# tank for at least the past 10 years.. Today it was $20. Told them I was amazed they kept it at $15 for so long. Still a better deal than big box store exchange for a tank that only has 15#s of propane in it..

I think a cylinder has to be < 10yrs old to get refilled and propane dealers up here follow this rule closely but in a small redneck village close by they never check the date stamp on propane cylinders so you can get any thing filled

    A) They can be recertified...
    B) if they are beyond the date and can't be recertified, take it to the exchange place that one time.. then refill the one you swap the old expired tank in for at the cheap place next time.
    C) I have FIVE of those 20 pound tanks in circulation... My generator runs on propane so I do that to have an ample supply for emergencies, ice storms, hurricanes, etc..

    It's working really well

A new 20lbs tank is cheaper than getting an old one recert’d here, it’s almost break even with a 30lbs tank if you get a fill with the recert. 60lbs and 100lbs tanks are worth the recert.

I’ve done the ol’ swap with an expired tank, but some of those refurbished exchange tanks look worse than my old one. Old valve still in place, with shoddy quick spray job.

Agreed, and usually with some political bent, i.e. whenever gas prices go up it's because of whoever the president is at the time.

The marginal utility value of each tank goes down with additional tanks in your inventory. Keeping 1 under the grill and 4 n the shed (adequately ventilated) no problem with nasty looking but certified 100% functional ones..

If it was just one always in use, I'd always replace it with a brand new one after 10 years..

I just did the math... I have 5 and unless there is a long term power failure to run the genny they just get cycled through the grill.. I go through one about every 6 months.. so at 5 in inventory, they sit in the shed for 2.5 years not used at all until their turn. Ya, not going to replace brand new for 4 of them to sit in the shed for 3 years unused until their turn.. But good to go if power goes out for a couple days..

Brilliant play to get Putin to invade Ukraine to jack up oil prices.

Was it Specter or Dr. Evil behind all this? Law of unintended consequences; Americans decide that maybe it really is time to start to transition away from fossil fuels cause its cheaper. Nothing more complicated than that.

I just did the math for my skiing five days per week
    Outback
    384 miles per week
    At 29mpg I burn 13.24 gal
Price has gone up $0.60 per gal in Central OR since Putin began thIs debacle, about half of which occurred between 0700 and 1430 PST last Friday
Extra cost = $8 per week.
    I’ll stop drinking.
Small price to pay if it changes this

^^^^ Agree 100% with the fuck them just suck it up and be more thrifty here... But as for the maths... we haven't stopped importing any Russian gas or oil yet.. According to this Forbes article, Russian gas is 20% of all imports..

It's probably going up at least another dollar if/when se stop buying it and supply goes down 20%..

I'm gonna ride my bike a LOT and keep working from home a lot even though the office actually opened this week.. If I don't need to transport anything big and it's not pouring down rain I'm riding the bike instead of driving the car..
