Not much, heading there Thursday though. Will hit winter park, sunlight on the weekend, steamboat etc. Mid week should be pretty chill.

depends what qualifies for you as pretty chill.... mid week spring break can be less than chill in CO, esp if there is snow or sun.

I'm waiting for the very end of March/first week of April. Even front range skiers give up when it gets nice down there. Two of my better powder days were the first two Mondays of April in '03 at Loveland, after it stormed on Sunday. 30 people on chair 9.

Yep, best time to ski here. Although it’s 70° all week in Denver, so maybe people will give up now.

Things have gotten a bit busier in the last 20 years I think.

Slight drift but a buddy is driving out now and wants to ski winter park or steamboat Saturday. Is it going to be a complete shit show? I'm thinking Sunlight this weekend

Steamboat *should* be less of a shitshow than WP, simply due to its distance from the Front Range.

One tip on the Boat: DON'T EVER GO BACK TO MORNINGSIDE.

    You're welcome.

It's supposed to start snowing, so that could bring the hordes. I generally am able to manage the crowds at WP, but it somewhat depends on one's tolerance for shitshows, and the terrain you like to ride.

This is true. If you can find a parking spot (go early), then hang out on Challenger or Iron Horse, with a lunch foray to the busy lift of your choice... it's manageable.

FKN Ikon...only a cunt-hair less despicable than Epic. I hope (and I know it's an impossible dream) that these "mega-passes" go away. I've seen enough the last couple years to know that while there might be some short term gains in capital projects, the long term is not sustainable. It's going to price things out of reach - sure, you can get a pass and get your lift ticket handled, but the Average Joe isn't going to be able to find anything affordable as far as lodging and food. $18 assembly line burger at CB today - I just stuck to beer. At least there's a "benefit" to that, even @ $6.50 a pop...

    Preach!!!

I got bent this past weekend when my local Alterra mtn was basically a staffing shitshow. In a lesser moment I commented on social media about it & took some shit for being negative, but the reality is their stewardship of the area blows. That’s what’s not sustainable. As a local I depend on the right guests coming to our area & if the mountain can’t operate lifts or make snow or run food/beverage well, the only ppl who will come are the bottom feeders who just want a cheap tix & contribute nothing. We are already seeing this shift. Patrons order a round of drinks & don’t tip. Skiers trash the facilities. Folks are fall down drunk at 10am with all their web purchased gear & beer bought out of state.

None of this helps the area.

Cold cold splash of water for me was seeing thousands of ppl “liking” a stupid Alterra propaganda post & piling on myself for saying WTF.

$6.50 beer is pretty reasonable. $18 burger, OTOH...

Good help is hard to find.

Maybe we should train the Ukrainian refugees to be lift ops.

IDK, multiple times I’ve had to turn the lights on on the lodge ~7:45am & then when the Jamaicans wanna leave for the day, they will lock up the Restrooms to not have to deal with it the next day. This happens ~3pm, so that’s not even an eight hour shift. That’s a management issue. I have to imagine some where in the Ikon manual for running a destination resort ya have lites on & bathrooms available.

also for the utards a change that might affect lcc traffic is 5 days snowbird on the BASE pass. and 5 days at Alta-Bird for the the Base pass plus. so you could get 10 total days up LCC if I read it right.

    On https://www.ikonpass.com/en/compare-passes

    It says
    ALTA SNOWBIRD, UT

Days shared between: Alta Ski Area, Snowbird
    SNOWBIRD, UT

Snowbird only access on Ikon Base Pass
Which I interpret as: 5 snowbird only days on base pass or 7 AltaBird days on full. Either way if I was an alta skier I would be excited.

^ i think it's just 5 days. Although base plus is 7 days alta, 5 days bird?

For me, at 979$ full iKon vs 919$ base plus makes no sense to buy base plus. 60$ to have no blackouts is a no brainer.

SV and snowbasin is a tits add on!

I'll probably go: full iKon, Brighton midweek, Indy, Silverton spring.
