Deciding to go full gas is a risk, but it's a legit choice. Just hope she doesn't let the second guessing matter.

Disappointed for her. Not disappointed in her.

Yes there’s way more emphasis on the Olympics for US athletes but I feel like Mikaela is well beyond that just like Vonn was. She’s a super duper star and it doesn’t really matter in the grand scheme of things.

NBC has slowly turned the Olympics coverage into a reality show that focuses on feelings rather than sport. I've been watching winter Olympics since the 70's and each time it gets worse. This has to weigh heavily on any athlete that knows they are going to get a lot of coverage. Queue the package about MS's father here...

And then there is social media which is a massive negative force hanging over your head.

FWIW I think the only way to deal with it is the way Bode did. Just basically throw a big FU to everyone and go out and do your own thing.
"Holy Cow!" someone exclaimed from the back of the stationwagon.

She's on the SG start list at 11th. Schedule says 8pm east coast prime time. Excellent news! Hope she skis more for fun than JUST to win, just because she deserves more fun this week!

Good to hear. I hope she just let's the skis fly and gets herself down the mountain without being concerned about the result.

Note that she is no longer doing interviews.

OK mine had multiple events from 8-11. Yours is probably more precise.

Telling a buddy at the bar tonight that I hoped she went out and had a fun run. Just watched the race. She smiled at the finish. Good for her.

Yeah, that's got to give her some confidence. Now she's got the downhill training runs to build her confidence back further.

Happy to have been dead wrong about her possibly being in a dangerous place. She's got a great support group around her. I also heard she was NOT on the actual race trail when they showed her sitting there for 20 minutes, that was the training run next to the race course run.

Hope she skis well and HAS FUN in the Combined and Team events..

Watching the SG replay while waiting for lifts to open…
    - LGB laid down a really nice run. But, she specializes in speed events
    - MS is a tech specialist, only started competing in SG/DH in the last few years. She’s not used to gliding, which shows up on time splits

Regardless, I hope she felt good about top 10, esp. with all the extracurricular shit she has to deal with.

Racing for the love of it. So great to see her get across the finish line. Hope it boosts her confidence for the rest of competition. Either way, she is the GOAT. Nothing can take that away from her.

Yes!! Now she gets some DH training runs to help her get her mojo back. Another top 10 finish would surprise no one. And she should be a favorite for AC gold....

Looking forward to Jackie Wiles long-awaited Olympic debut, as well!

Sounds like she felt the love over the past few days "I had no idea people could be so kind"... Or something like that.

Yeah, that interview was heartwarming. Kind people deserve kindness in return, and I'm so happy to hear she felt that love.

Was incredible how clean LGB was in that middle section... Lots of racers came in to it with a few hundredths in the green only to leave that one section .4, .5 sec off LGB pace. Very happy for Shiffrin!

Seems like that term--GOAT--is being tossed around quite a lot lately.
