I was checking out a pair of those bamboo poles that someone left in front of my skis on the rack. My seven year old asked me if they were mine. I replied, “I wouldn’t ski with these ridiculous things”, and the person they belonged to was standing right behind me…oops.

To be fair to Blister, free-heel skiing is a joke. That being said I think it'd be fun to pick up some boots and bindings so I could give it a whirl.

    Telemark skiing is dead.

I mentioned this in the 22/23 gear thread, but I’m wondering if atomic will develop a tele boot. They just starting sponsoring the hermann-ator again, who is a tele skier…. onenerdykid is their ski boot product manager.

I was led to believe that they aren’t actually very good skiers…. I was serious about Wagner. He knows how to tele

Tele is just variable wheelbase skiing. How you use it is based on skill and experience, like everything.

ok i've got a crazy concept for you, maybe going for a bit of the niche crowd that might telemark and alpine ski, tele ski tour for comfort and likes being able to huck on a solid binding, maybe doesn't like to eject really. But I suspect this could be quite a few people!

    - These hybrid tele boots with a.t. soles (some solid customizable chargey a.t. boots)
and tele bindings that you can ski with alpine sole. just stiff as fuck flex you can pretty much ski anything with, and that super slick touring mode lock/ just flick on off. If you could combine the axl and bomber, just simple and solid it might be a good alternative to a shift or dukes.

The boot's concept is that the tightness/fit is highly customizable, then the flex and range of motion are all tied in/tightened up by one mechanism. This is something i've been dreaming of for years and wanna keep developing

If it was just simple, comfortable and relatively lightweight enough to whats out there I think I could do alot of the a.t. skiing on it. Sometimes when thinking of a multiday tour comfortability is prime... and gear that is solid, built for abuse!

Finally gear that you can get for < $500, made in north america.
Anyways, this is my tele dirtbag fantasy dream list

I know boot molds are expensive but perhaps 3d printing could be the way.
i am curious your opinion, if you could stiffen up the bellows is there no reason an ntn/ a.t. boot doesn't ski well?

Mostly I would love a boot that is easy to synch down snug and ski comfortably, doesn't have to off your circulation or make your feet sore to have good control. Something that doesn't need a pro boot fitter, you can customize the shell fit at home.

Enough of my crackhead ideas, but i've been trying to engineer this one in my head for a while,,,

If I can’t ski on shabbos, I’m out.
    Kill all the telemarkers
But they’ll put us in jail if we kill all the telemarkers
    Telemarketers! Kill the telemarketers!
Oh we can do that. We don’t even need a reason

I shaved off my beard, no longer have the Jesus look. Can I still call myself a tele skier?

It's dead for me because I'm still expertly tuning my rubber boot sole profile to fit these ancient Freerides. And i just ordered some alpine bindings. Will update you folks as the situation is still very fluid.

Seriously??? In a world of cobbled together free heel gear you panic at the first sign of an adaptation requirement and go to the dark side?!?!?!

Imagine a reaction gif where a guy with sweat rolling down his forehead laughs nervously then denies everything, then backs into the bushes.

Been going on a decade with t1’s and axls. With 30ish resort and 30ish bc days a season the combo strikes a fine balance of tourability, shredability, and the most important, affordability for this freeheeler. Of course ignorance truly is bliss.
