Here's a spot where you can still snag them though I'll wager shipping isn't gonna be quick or easy. Sorry

Also maybe message Spyderjon, I got one from him recently. Not sure if he has more stock on hand though.

But you certainly can mount in front of an adjustment plate. As long as you have some heel of the boot to come in contact with it shouldn't be a problem.
Conclusion- the Universal freeride spacer (05) does not work with the Helio 180 and Hoji Freetour as it is supposed to, (as per another thread). At its absolute lowest setting there is not any gap between the height of the boot and spacer so you can't lock the heel into the binding....

I will need to mod something up....

Does anyone have specs on the spacer height of the 06 or 07s? I'm going to need approx 28mm, and it appears that the 05 only goes up to 20mm.

Unfortunately my ION LTs heel piece is too far forward on the plate to fit the spacer like Sargentdrufus shows so I'll be mounting directly to the ski.

The other thing you could do if you don't mind the minor weight penalty that would come with it is if the height doesn't match up you could shim with some plastic or cutting board type material 🤷

Excellent point; I'm getting a pair of the Moment rebranded ATKs mounted on another pair of skis this week - if the performance w/ the spacer is as good as you all suggest I'll definitely go that route. Maybe by then someone stateside will have them in stock!

This is the only place I can find them right now: https://www.fast-bikes.no/e-vendo.ph...&c=3096&p=3096

Bumping this because I'm curious to hear how much of a difference people think the spacer is making. A lot of noise out there but I'd be interested to hear more opinions from the collective.

Also, I need to go measure the heel height on my Backland Pures with Zero Gs to see if the 05 fits. Anyone running that combo? I was thinking of biting the bullet on some raiders, but the Backland bindings have been bomber and I already own them... if I can just add the spacer that seems like a solid dirtbag move!

I’ve just been making my own with some hdpe plastic. Eliminates the pin float, which drove me. Nuts.

Maybe a little off topic but you can buy "stomp pads" for the g3 zed.

I bought some and installed them but never used the bindings without the pads and only once with the pads.

G3 says to install them with a small gap and give you a little tool to do that, but I really wonder if I should use the thicker ones and just shave them down until the barely touch the boot (so no upward preload on the springs).

Aren’t the stomp pads free? I know I’ve asked G3 for some and been sent a free set. I’m pretty sure they’re required whenever the binding is used without brakes, otherwise there’s a risk of the heel tower exploding.

That's true of the first iteration... they beefed up the plastic in the heel piece for the most recent version and the stomp pads are only recommended if you are over a certain weight (don't recall), or ski aggressively, and are not using brakes.

I've found the "stomp pad" on my MTNs to be sufficient in eliminating pin float. Have you noticed a big difference with your custom ones? What boot are you using?

By stomp pad do you mean the brakes? I guess that's my real question - what, if anything, do you gain from the atk spacer that you don't get from the MTN brake in terms of power transmission. Safety wise you're getting the afd action, but it seems like they'd accomplish essentially the same thing otherwise

    Nice solution and setup.

And yes the goal is to eliminate the pin float and it makes a huge huge huge difference in the feel of the ski absolutely

I’d also vote that the spacer makes a big difference, especially on wider skis.

hey Riff, I saw a while back in the ATK thread you installed the freeride spacer on your Helio 180s but you had to shim the binding and grind down the spacer. How is that working out? Did you use the AL07 or AL05 spacer? It looks like the AL05 is thinner than the AL07 maybe?

Are people setting up the spacer to be in contact with the boot at all times? I.e. will I notice a difference if I ignore the G3 setup instructions and don't leave a gap?

Yes I know that if I ignore the instructions I will die.... but the question remains.

If you’re going brakeless the heel of the boot does not contact the plastic of the heel. Mine didn’t start with noticeable pin slop but, developed it after a period of time. It was like a clicking sound and I could feel it. Gone with stomp pad that is ground down to lightly contact boot heel. Skied with tlt6 performance, Mercury’s, and currently Atomic backland carbon w/tongue.

It worked out great so far, no problems. I used marine epoxy also when I screwed it down, for more security. I think it’s the al05, from skimo. The al05 goes to a lower height, definitely preferred for race type heels.

Thanks! So just to be clear, you used the thinner AL05 spacer and still had to raise the heelplate of the binding by 2mm and grind the freeride spacer down to fit properly?

I think so; not 100%. I got em from skimo, so whichever ones they carry.

Yes in contact with the boot at all times, I have the older spacer paired with the Ion LT, Still alive no issues with releases when needed.

    Thank you.

The new kit from G3 comes with 3 different thicknesses of pad... I'll put the next size up in.
