WHat the hell are you talking about??

The answer is right here in front of you, ya donkey. Just look at the goddamn Ontario chart someone was nice enough to draw up for you!

4th wave, delta, more like a hump. This is with everything reopened. Thanks to ~75% overall population vaccinated. Vaccine effectiveness at preventing INFECTION is currently 78%, and has been this way pretty much the entire time. Population of Ontario is 14 million. Contains the Greater Toronto Area which is essentially a giant never-ending nightmare-inducing sprawl of city of 7 million potential COVID hosts.

The vaccines are safe, effective, and our best chance at ending this. Are they a guarantee? Not yet. Is there really any other option? Nope. Should you STFU? ______

when i read teletech's descriptions upthread of what his family was experiencing, i wondered if they had contacted a doctor. I know that some with mild symptoms are receiving monoclonal antibody treatments. Our County media person was a moderna breakthrough case was having respiratory problems, received monoclonal antibody treatments, and recovered pretty quickly. They made a PSA out of it on social media. incidentally, that person did not infect anybody in their family, all of whom were 2 dose vaxed.

another little story: friend's mother (~75) was a pfizer breakthrough case. Infection source was visiting unvaxed and asymptomatic family - a half-day indoor gathering of less than 5 adults. Her symptoms were very mild. Her 80+ year old immunocompromised pfizer vaxed partner did not get infected - they got tested almost daily. The partner attended the same gathering and generally sat next to the friend's mom during the entire gathering. The unvaxed relatives all later tested positive and supposedly none had symptoms.

New study comparing infection-induced vs. vaccine-induced immunity:
    https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/70/...cid=mm7044e1_w

Among COVID-19–like illness hospitalizations among adults aged ≥18 years whose previous infection or vaccination occurred 90–179 days earlier, the adjusted odds of laboratory-confirmed COVID-19 among unvaccinated adults with previous SARS-CoV-2 infection were 5.49-fold higher than the odds among fully vaccinated recipients of an mRNA COVID-19 vaccine who had no previous documented infection (95% confidence interval = 2.75–10.99).

Just went for a boat ride. Cold but beautiful out. Leaf guards don’t really work in New England. Too many leaves.

Amazing how the very same misconstructions regarding vaxxed versus unvaxxed keep reiterating, almost always resting on finding an exception and ignoring the stats

Sorry I’m a little unimpressed with this amazing vaccine that you still get covid if you run into someone with covid.

Life is about probabilities; it's not digital yet.

Didn't polio vax require 6 doses?

I don't think he ever answered this question....did anyone in his crew that was vaccinated die, have long-haul, irreparable lung damage, etc.?

Because if not it's just a complaint that the vaccines don't provide sterilizing coverage.

To put another way, with a vaccinated spouse at home evidently having some symptoms of COVID imagine how much worse it could have been had she not been vaccinated? She might be on a vent or dead. I guess that outcome escapes him when making broad proclamations about how terrible the vaccines perform. Also, what Buster said...this argument is the same whoever presents it...find a one off breakthrough case, apply it to all situations, and ignore the obvious in larger datasets because it doesn't fit their narrative. It's tiresome.

flu shot is like 50% effective. when this started weren't people going to be wildly impressed if we came up with something like that within two years?

but the fucking sky is falling because maine had 800 cases.

    Where's the response template?

That way you nitwits who keep getting upset can just cut and paste the data, arguments and snappy reparte' into a response without furrowing your brows or bashing your keyboards.

The narrative of this place is vaccinate, vaccinate, vaccinate. I’m a glad I did. But it doesn’t stop the spread. So instead of shitting on unvaccinated. Another unvaccinated dead, Awesome. Young guy about to have a kid Muf freedom fucker deserved it. Maybe say I don’t know what the answer is, but let’s be nice to each other until we figure it out.

The goal is to reduce the R value and that is best accomplished by mass vaccination. If the R value is below 1 then, yes, we're "stopping the spread." That doesn't mean the virus is going to disappear tomorrow or maybe next year, but that's the best we can do. You just can't look at your family or even the state of Maine and decide that the vaccine isn't stopping the spread. That's not how things work when you're dealing with a global pandemic. It's like saying there's no climate change because it was cold at your house one day.
