Because vaccination dramatically reduces severity and the risk of death the fact that breakthrough infections happen makes vaccination even more important, not less. That means — either way — none of the arguments being made are antivax. Arguing pro-vaccination is elitist means you've lost the plot.

Across all age age groups and even across variants unvaccinated people, even unvaccinated people with prior Covid, face a 3-to-20 times greater risk of hospitalization than the vaccinated. Natural immunity is unreliable and overall provides relatively less protection compared with vaccination.

A large body of research shows Prior Covid + 1 dose of vaccine provides better protection than 2-doses vaccine which in turn is better than prior infection. So if the argument is Covid will become endemic then the answer is the higher the vaccination rate, the less shackled cases are to the severity of the virus’s consequences.

I had the long walk to B gates in SLC. Not one of the male cultists in training had a mask on as i got my steps in. Well hold up, they did but it was always under their chin. Every single one of them. I guess it’s the new fad for the stupids.
Now the women cultists in training (meaning subservient to the stupids) all had their masks on and over their noses. Quite interesting to see their “values” displayed as part of their culture. Also made me puke a bit in my mouth seeing this archaic behavior being displayed.

Because of my complete lack of respect for the Utah cultists, I personally don’t know many. But the ones I have to deal with in various capacities in life, I know of one, ONE, person that is vaccinated. She’s actually happy about it too, trying to get others to get it. I think that’s great! But it’s only one of maybe a hundred.
yeah up here its mainly the fundamentalist Christians, big familys that all go to the same churchs same christian schools, same public gatherings work togetehr, fuck each over in general, make each other sick from covid and when they get sick they are encouraged to not report it unless really sick, so the while the #'s are the highest in the province its actulay much worse

but on the other hand there are also > a few secular types

right now one can't do anything without a vax, can't go into a bar/ movie/ restaurant, can't fly anywhere, take a ferry, where exactly do they expect all this TO go are restrictions suddenly going to go away ... I can't see it happening anytime soon ?

It may or may not stop the spread I am bettting it does but Vax is going unclog the hospitols so non-covid related HC can take place, people with heart issues/ cancer yadayada all the stuff that used to take place before Covid

    > 90 % of people in the ICU with covid are unvaxed, so even if a Vax doesnt stop you getting Covid do you not Vax and risk really bad covid/ death

or vax and get less sick/ not die ??

I’ll change the subject. With the new cdc study out there recognizing natural immunity, is there going to be a softening of the upcoming mandate? Timing seems strange

It's not even an "error" considering the data showing that those who have had Covid derive additional benefit from getting vaccinated.

Has the CDC changed its mind re: natural vs. vax since yesterday?

CDC finds immunity from vaccines is more consistent than from infection, but both last at least six months

It’s a question that scientists have been trying to answer since the start of the pandemic, one that is central to the rancorous political debates over coronavirus vaccine policies: How much immunity does someone have after recovering from a coronavirus infection, and how does it compare with immunity provided by vaccination?

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention has weighed in for the first time in a detailed science report released with little fanfare Friday evening. Reviewing scores of research studies and its own unpublished data, the agency found that both infection-induced and vaccine-induced immunity are durable for at least six months — but that vaccines are more consistent in their protection and offer a huge boost in antibodies for people previously infected.

In comparing the two types of immunity, scientists said research shows vaccination provides a “higher, more robust, and more consistent level of immunity to protect people from COVID-19 than infection alone.”

Coronavirus infections can cause severe disease or no symptoms at all, and the CDC found that antibody levels vary widely from one individual to another after an infection. The report also notes that there is no test authorized by the Food and Drug Administration that would enable doctors and the public to reliably measure an individual’s protection from disease. And although higher levels of neutralizing antibodies generally signal higher protection, scientists don’t know precisely what level of antibodies will protect an individual.

The CDC’s bottom line: Given what’s known and not known about immunity, people who have been infected with the virus should still get vaccinated. More than 45 million people in the United States have had confirmed coronavirus infections, and tens of millions more — the exact number is unknown — have had undocumented cases.

The science brief echoes another study, released by the CDC earlier Friday, that the agency said showed a higher level of protection from vaccines than from previous infection alone. That study said vaccinated patients hospitalized with covid-like symptoms were less likely to test positive for the virus than those who had recovered months earlier from a coronavirus infection. In other words, the patients vaccinated against the coronavirus were more likely to have some illness other than covid.

Unvaccinated people were 11 times more likely to die of covid-19, CDC report finds

Immunity from a prior infection has been a vexing issue for the Biden administration as it continues to push vaccinations as the key to ending the pandemic. Some Republican members of Congress have seized on what they term “natural immunity” to push back against the vaccine mandates favored by the White House.

The CDC says that they're a waste of time, because Joe down at the end of the block got them and they didn't work properly for him.

"No need to have mandates because vaccination doesn't stop the spread." But vaccination doesn't stop the spread because there's no mandate. Hint--you can't get a breakthrough infection if you're never exposed to anyone with the virus. Measles, which is more contagious than Delta I believe, requires 95% immunity--which includes small children through adults (older adults got their immunity through infection although at work we got measles vaccine during the outbreak a couple of years ago.) As stated dozens of time in this thread and the other one, the virus will stop spreading only when enough people are vaccinated--including children . We don't know what the number is for Delta and for what comes after Delta, but we aren't close yet.

And stupid me for explaining this shit to every jong who shows up on this forum to spew Covid lies. No one should be allowed to post in this thread or the other one until they have read both from the beginning.
