Anecdotally or by conjecture it seems that anyone with more efficient and powerful lungs might be a better host for the virus to take up residency in.. Be it a weed smoker who can take huge hits and hold them a long time or an athlete with a super efficient pulmonary system. Now the latter might also have a superior cardio system to send those white soldiers around to fight like hell once those nasty things take root.. But the a more powerful air exchange system is probably going to suck in more viral particles per breath than someone who's diaphragm is surrounded with 150 pounds of fat.

Interesting theory. My uber athlete buddy got fucked up and still is 1.5 years later. My obese SIL got a little tired for a couple days. Just 2 data points, I know, but...

Yeah, he got it in March 2020. I've mentioned him a couple other times in covid threads. He's doing slightly better, very slowly...

regarding covid, I have been reminded that part of the disease process may include a 'hyperimmune response' in which a (healthy) person's (hyper-)immune response to the covid infection IS a very significant part of the person's illness and disease. ...

so - while I no longer believe it is a matter of chance of developing covid clinical disease - Because of the immunity provided with vaccination,
Without immunity a person's Risk is much greater, And

effective vaccination of society can greatly reduce the spread of disease.

While your statement is factually correct, the suggestion that we don't have a "fucking idea" at the population level of who is at higher risk of developing severe disease is obviously wrong. So ultimately, I don't understand your point.

I certainly don't deserve comparison to the poetry of SFB
( it took me,,, years to think I had any idea what SFB means -

( 70,000 die annually of Influenza. ( last year was the second time I got a 'flu shot' ) )

not vaxed vs vaxed I should have added, you don't know how sick you will get without a vax, there is no way to tell but the ICU's are full of unvaxed people so getting a vax does seem to keep people out of the ICU and ending up likely either very sick or dead
