Hey now, I'm not the one gloating about my local ski experience.

In fact, I'm the one agreeing with lots of Puget Sounders and the OP about how the experience has degraded both at lift served places and all the places I used to climb to ski that are now choked with people.

But, I shouldn't have posted the bloviate remark. My apologies.

And you're right about the single lift up to tour, that's the best remaining option.

Counter that to Ikon owned Crystal, which had COVID reservations for everyone and weekends filled up a month before you intended to go.
JHMR certainly capped their IKON days last year, as did others. It seems that this policy will continue for this coming ski season.

Hey, I’m just talking shit. I’m always amazed at how upset people get about crowding at ski areas on the weekends. Anyone complaining is part of the problem. We all have choices.

It's all about supply and demand.
You can exclusively blame the demand all you want, but nothing will get any better.

I think it remains to be seen how many more people will actually turn up to the mountains. If they sell more, but a lot are to the casual meh skiers then the average days a pass is used will likely go down.

Fucking vail should not own Stowe or Wildcat. Disgusting.
That triple is not Kachina level territory.

Of all the lifts I heard they were replacing that's the only one I cheered, basically for eliminating that stupid climb from the parking lot. But, a six pack. I hate fucking six packs.
Doesn't matter. After my EPIC experience last year in the northeast, I'm never going near one of those hills. As a matter of fact, I'm pretty happy sales are up for them. I wish them all the best. More skiers there, less at my mountains.

Stowe Mountain Resort, Mountain Lift: The replacement and extension of the existing fixed-grip triple to a high-speed 6-person lift will increase uphill capacity by 100%, eliminate the steep hike to the base of the lift, improve reliability on windy days and offer beginner and intermediate guests with better access to lower-level terrain choices.
That's funny, always fun watching people struggle climbing up to the 4Runner, you know it's going to be a long day when that is a challenge.

My fear is that they'll hack Hacketts wider and flatten it during this "upgrade" Such a fun trail. Reality is that for me it doesn't matter currently as I have finished my Stowe experience due to the long drive from the bob.

Weekend skiing is fun. Just gotta plan it right. I get my fair share of weekdays in too, but I've honestly gotten to where I really look forward to Sunday afternoon skiing.

Broncos games used to clear the ski hill on Sundays, not sure if that is still the case.

So, in other words, Sunday afternoon.

It's kind of amazing that some people only ski weekends, and, specifically, Saturday. When I was stuck skiing weekends in my last job, the only one, fortunately, I ever was stuck on weekends, Killington would literally have twice as many people on the hill on Saturday than Sunday. So, therefore, you have to assume that a lot of people only experience a ski hill on Saturday. Then they eat brunch on a hangover and drive home Sunday. In my old ski shares there were five or six people like that, and they had full season passes and nice clothes and equipment.

Can't we wait until the season starts before we start bitching about the season?

I have no doubt that bunny could find a way to be miserable any day of the ski season.

Job, kids, life in general......people are busy. Not everyone is able to structure their lives around skiing.....I don't find it amazing at all. Just be thankful that your only days to ski aren't on the weekends.

Also…all of the ski programs for the kiddos (at least here) are on Saturdays. Not going to drop them off, have a day to ski by myself and not.

Sunday’s are great family ski days though and as a 9-5er I just pick one half day a week based on weather to go ski…but I have made better life decisions then most 🤣

We are all trade contractors, and are royalty up here, and have to turn away 4x the work than we can take and will likely not even call you back unless you are a friend of a friend at least because we are taking a Pow day or working billing 2x our normal rate to some tech fuckwit in Martis Camp whose wife is demanding a remodel of the $12M "cabin" they just bought before they host their Christmas party...

Or you can make pizza, pour coffee and tune skis.

See you at Stevens…ask for change. [emoji6]
I missed a few due not being able to get a reservation.. (sometime not clearing my schedule until the morning of... Oh well...) I'm thrilled the reservation system is gone..

Eagerly waiting to see if La Niña predictions come through. Some of the big Pacific storms are starting a little early, and could potential give a good mixing to the Ocean's temperature stratification and that could hold off the infamous "blob" that turns snow to rain... it could be an epically awesome year again...

Not nearly as common as autumnal autofellation apparently.

Funny how people go from “how do I get a cool mountain job they are hard to find” to “they are easy to find” when they have one
