this ranks pretty low on my list of things to care about during a pandemic...in other words a bunch of politicians that are all vaccinated and that get tested on the regular are caught not wearing masks. It's bad optics, but not egregiously stupid.

You'll note Austin has no issue with all the shenanigans of GOP leaning politians such as DeSantis, Abbot, Trump, etc. who blatantly thumbing their nose at science while addressing the public, but in private are also fully vaccinated and frequently tested.

Garrison, who has published multiple anti-vaccine cartoons, and his wife, both of whom are in their 60s, have had COVID-19 for about two weeks, according to Gizmodo. The cartoonist told the outlet that it's been "rough" and that he lost his sense of taste and smell, causing him to lose a desire to eat and drop 15 pounds. However, he has no plans to seek out a medical provider.

"I would never go to a hospital with COVID. Robert David Steele did it a few weeks ago and they killed him. The hospitals get extra money for COVID death reports, which is necessary to keep fear ramped up," Garrison told Gizmodo.

Steele advertised himself as one of the first people to push the theory that COVID-19 was a hoax and was vehemently opposed to the COVID-19 vaccine. In his last blog post, published on August 17, Steele acknowledged his lungs were "not functioning" but believed he would survive.

"This [has] been a near death experience, very much like a new death experience the whole country is going through right now. We will never be the same because now we know that we've all been lied to about everything," Steele wrote.

Steele denied the pandemic was real in March 2020, posting on his blog that he believed it was part of a plan to oust former President Donald Trump from office. In an ongoing randomized trial with over 300K people involving regular testing to determine both vaccine immunity and natural immunity during Delta, mRNA vaccine immunity performs better than natural immunity.

The blue column contains mRNA vaccinated numbers, the yellow AZ, the green column contains unvaccinated but tested positive in the past:

The chart shows mRNA > previous infection > AZ against a low viral burden. Whereas against a high viral burden all vaccinated people had fewer symptoms when a breakthrough infection occurred compared with previous infection.

I don't know the credentials of the person who wrote that or the validity of the statistics and I don't care given that the site is a covid denial site, but Michael Osterholm made a similar point a month or two ago in some interview I heard--that there is an ebb and flow to virus surges that can't be completely understood by the presence or absence of anti-pandemic measures. There is still a lot to learn about this virus and anyone who is dogmatic about in any direction should reconsider. It's not just the anti-mask anti-vax crowd that's dogmatic. A lot of scientists on both sides of the booster debate are as well.

Hopefully there would be progress with the nasal/oral versions, that would help to reach a large..yet semi invisible group: Needle phobiacs.

Have come across it lately, an interesting yet surprisingly common issue. Two different guys that both like to portray as themselves as "Alpha Male/SpecOperator" kind of individuals. Burly, young and....not vaxxed. Gave the usual blah blah reasons of and aversion when pressed for reasons. Turned out that neither can stand blood (one basically fainted when exposed to a small cut+blood) OR needles. Dealing/practicing with hypodermics, let alone cannulas is a total no go. Hell, one had refused to go to army (yet likes camo) because he knew that he would be vaxxed.

So, basically neither cucks* want to get vaccinated because... fear needles. Wtf?

Wonder what percentage of the antivaxx crowd is just plainly afraid of needles?
In that case Oral/Nasal vaxx might be a good way of reaching that particular group.

I don’t know anything about Garrison beyond the really unfunny comics that seem to make it a point to hand deliver the punch line with a full exposition and nothing left unsaid.
