Capitulation is part of why kooks continue to have a sizeable platform. Nothing will change if reasonable people don't stand up.

No one doubts that once Owens had the lab lady's email, it was a publicity stunt by Owens to stick it on the internet and make a big deal out of it. And no one doubts Owens is a cunt and this really didn't inconvenience her. I don't think she booked the appointment knowing they would deny her. My point is the lab served this up to Owens on a platter and she ran with it.
100% agree...and I didn't know that about how they booked it. Insane to think she feels the need to book appointments that way...this, or something similar, must have happened more than once? I guess in the name of de-politicizing the pandemic I am all for just testing Ms. Owens going forward...and she can go fuck herself.
Damn shame, throwing away a perfectly good white boy like that

The lab is owned by Rocky Mountain Labs in Englewood, CO. They opened a testing site in Aspen to serve the needs of the community because, as others have noted, they don't have Walgreens and other facilities for testing like more populated locations. And they have a huge demand for tests because Aspen.
So basically, you read something in the media and want to be outraged, but don't have the facts, and argue disingenuously. Methinks you trolling. You may not know it but you're disrespecting honest conversation.

Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

Don't look now but this is why people are hoarding toilet paper again...

As the Delta variant of COVID-19 continues its deadly sweep across the U.S., officials say that they are keeping a "very close eye" on a new variant that may be able to bypass existing coronavirus antibodies.

This. Our freedoms are under assault. Once upon a time, America was great. I could enjoy a burger and beer indoors without worry of deadly disease. Time to corral the sheep and jab them.

I have a question about viral load. Is it just a matter of inhaling x number of active virus, or is it more complex than that?

I guess a more specific question, which is worse, a large “dose” over a short period time or a small, steady “dose” over a longer period of time, assuming both result in the same viral load?

Probably depends on time scale and vax status.

It’s probably like cocaine. If you snort a giant pile at once you get super fucked up and your heart might explode, verses snorting little bumps throughout the day and keeping a buzz.

    Just my scientific opinion.

Being exposed to a "large" amount of virus all at once is likely going to be worse- the higher dose in a shorter time frame is more likely to carry over into the Lower Resp Tract where bad things happen quickly vs. colonization of the Upper Resp Tract.

Mostly Delta (99.1% !) DGAF that Mu is around. (Mu = B.1.621)

    https://www.cdc.gov/coronavirus/2019...iant-info.html

    https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tra...nt-proportions

Mu has already been in the US for ~6 months and has never been above 0.5% of the strains (yet), and has similar changes that Beta does. Beta was around in SA during the vaccine trial periods, and started the "oh shit maybe the vaccines won't work against emerging strain..." angst last October. Despite the decrease in neutralization, the vaccines still work well enough to provide protection against Beta, Lambda, Mu...

A cluster of the new SARS-CoV-2 B.1.621 lineage in Italy and sensitivity of the viral isolate to the BNT162b2 vaccine

    https://onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1002/jmv.27247

In this study, we isolated for the first time the virus from the sample of the earliest positive patient and carried out a neutralization assay using the isolated virus soon after confirmation of its identity by WGS, and human sera collected between 10 and 20 days after the administration of the second dose of the BNT162b2 vaccine, which occurred 3 weeks after the first immunization. All sera efficiently neutralized the SARS-CoV-2 B.1.621 isolate (Figure 1C), demonstrating that this VOI is not a concern for vaccine efficacy. Indeed, neutralization of SARS-CoV-2 B.1.621 was robust, even if significantly lower than that observed on SARS-CoV-2 B.1.

Our data show that despite several mutations in Spike, SARS-CoV-2 B.1.621 is neutralized by the BNT162b2 vaccine-elicited antibodies. Moreover, they highlight the importance of properly quarantining people after travel abroad to avoid spreading newly emerging SARS-CoV-2 lineages to different countries.

Gotta be 90% plus maggots boot up in the lot if no kids accompany them. Only time I’ve ever booted in the lodge was when I was teaching my daughter to ski.

Just don’t boot up in the downtown Seattle Starbucks bathroom. They don’t like that. Especially if you overdose.

    15 Miami-Dade educators die from COVID-19 in 10 days

Fifteen staffers of the Miami-Dade County Public Schools District have died from COVID-19 in the past 10 days, officials said.

Sonia Diaz, a spokesperson for several unions in the school district, confirmed the number of deaths to affiliate NBC6.

One of the educators that lost their life to COVID-19 was Abe Coleman, a teacher for more than 30 years.

“It’s a tremendous loss. The number of lives that he impacted are countless. So many young men had the benefit of him intervening in their lives and pointing them in the right direction,” said Marcus Bright, with 5000 Role Models of Excellence.

Coleman was also a mentor and Site Director for the 5000 Role Models of Excellence Program, overseeing the Holmes Elementary location. He helped shape the lives of hundreds of young men over the years in the organization that mentors minority men in Miami-Dade County.

“In particular, he was a bridge builder for the students there. He connected them with opportunity, with resources, with infrastructures of opportunity that fed into and contributed to their development,” Bright said.

On Tuesday, Coleman lost his life to COVID-19 at the age of 55.

    ----

Don't worry though - your kids school teachers are not worth encouraging vaccinations for as they probably are all older, overweight, and with other medical conditions.
