Big difference between an access cat track and a mega wide green groomer filled with noobs.

Disagree, either one you have to slow down and change your style of skiing to go over.

This is just crusty old dogs like Newcomb thinking it should be exactly like it was when they got here.

I don’t have a dog in this fight, but the skin-track (and possibly summer bike climbing trail) will be a bit mellower, and that’s not a bad thing.

not a Jackson guy by any means, only been there once and it was early season low tide..

But a cat track that flattens part of a fall line but doesn't have horizontal traffic on it sounds very different than a green run full of kids and novices crossing a fall line.

Jon Hunt is Rick's younger brother, here he is winning the 1992 comp.

I'd have sworn Ben-wa said it was Jon, but it may well be Rick up there...
BW says he'll be loading butts 3 nights a week at the new ganjala.

Rod Newcomb, think that guy has seen some sketchy, exposed shit? Old school, big cojones exum guide.

I didn't know about Richter's demise until today, thx JS, sad to hear. He was another distinct thread in the village tapestry. RIP Matty.

In other JHMR news, they just upped employee housing rent by 25%. A week after announcing a 9% minimum wage increase.

Yeah, Rideit let me know. Google search let me know how it happened. His first flight was a tandem off Rendezvous and he was hooked.

is the compensation and benefits that good at jhmr for the people in housing?

i'd say get another job and your own housing and tell them to fuck off but then getting your own housing is impossible.

Yup, indentured servitude. Benefits ‘exist’ for full time employees, but they make it very difficult to actually become one of them. But pay is hardly competitive, IMO.

There's very little about working for the resort that appeals anymore. Certainly not for a ski bum. Most workers really don't ski as much as they'd like to.
Full time jobs have been reduced to an almost skeleton crew, and you better have your nose up someone's ass to get/keep it. Benefits are nothing fancy, free pass pulls in a few but not like bitd.
If you're in any position of authority, they'll insist you be a DB regularly, Speed kids, maze nazis, lift bosses etc.

Ditching the corp. for a real money job and housing has been the way for 20 years but now the housing issue is the crux.
Going rate for any job in town is between $17-$28 hourly, typically full time but employers will work with you now just to get a worker.
Many pay better if you can prove you have solid housing.
    It's a worsening clusterfuck fosho.

That new easy way down will likely be a cattrack, not really a run; the original road is narrowish and can be racy sketchy with some bony snap back and forth.
Where they smoothed it out in the middle of exhibition is also the crux of the snomo hillclimb. It's easier now no doubt.
The King needs to be used more IMO, until they overprice it and add stupid attractions, which will be sooner than later to be sure.

Sollys, maxed out on 210cm fischers most likely. Jon is the one who cracked his neck after getting slid out of Spacewalk a few years ago. He wanted to ski out but patrol said take a sled lap Mr. Guide guy.

Seeing a lot more help wanted ads for managers, bosses, and jefes. Used to be mostly filled with ads for line cooks, housekeepers, laborers. Now you're seeing a lot for directors, senior management, exec level gigs. Even those poor souls can't afford to live here on $100k. Does anyone even stop to think about them and their struggles? Thoughts and prayers.

Well, golly gee whillikers, beav. I was changing a flat while I was riding on Pratt Road, and Nikki Sixx pulled over and asked if I needed anything. I really should have politely asked for some Grey Poupon.

I haven't been up Pratt in a few years now. It used to have those pylons that sunk into the road after you entered yer code. Are they still there?
Otherwise one can just ride a bike/moto between them.

I'd like to meet that dude. I listened to the crue early on but moved on quickly. Be cool if he came out to ski with us.

I got the star wars solly's mounted all proper like on those Fischer WC GS'ers yesterday.
Stoked to mach around on those. Fuck they're stiffer than I thought.

Can you believe it's almost Fall.

Town's noticeably quieter, I think we're between the summer crush and the fall leaf peepers.

Pylons are still there. But right now the road is in pre-chip seal crushed gravel mode, kinda scary going downhill.

you know who owns the first house on the left after you get offa 22 and wind past the pastures?

    Or maybe it's the second...

How many construction guys know the code to get onto Pratt? Hundreds...
