Washington's vaccine mandate is the strictest in the nation and includes all K-12 teachers, nearly all state employees, volunteers, and even government contractors. Unlike other states with vaccine mandates, there is no way around it with weekly testing because "the governor does not believe it is effective or sustainable." The deadline to get fully vaccinated is October 18. This likely means that Washington State's football coach who refuses to get vaccinated will be quitting. I assume there will be a lawsuit filed on whether the state still has to pay his remaining 5 year, $3 million a year contract.

Oh yeah, going to be lots of job openings soon due to vax mandates. Enforcing the mandate and dealing with all the fake vax cards is going to be an issue.

Full disclosure. I have been vaxxed.

You all are morons though thinking this thing is just going to disappear. It's not.

Vaxxes or None. It will be time that fixes it.

Acceptance of therapies will save lives (if they matter).

They don't care though and death = fear.
I'm cool with this, as long as you Kirkwood Bro Brah's stay away from Heavenly when 88 closes- TahoeBc

I think I read that those who lose their jobs due to vaccine refusal won't be eligible for unemployment. Is that the case in WA?

It's not about making it disappear. It's about mitigating risk and reducing spread.

    .
I don’t think there is a single person in this thread that has remotely asserted that. I could be wrong. The vaxxes will manage it, starting right fucking now.

Let’s hope. Blatantly violating a workplace policy is usually grounds for unemployment denial. Usually a case by case basis though and I’m sure many will still get the benefit.

Yes, it has a precedent so denying should be okay. It better be. Our state, and I'm sure many states, have a lot of conservative types getting a paycheck from the gubmint so should be interesting.

Are any of you decent cartoonists? I have an idea for a New Yorker style cartoon with St Peter at the pearly gates, asking for proof of vax, and (sort of) apologetically turning the morons away…

To Vaccinate or Not---The Rat Flu Odyssey Continues

Many of the anti vax and vax hesitant people that I know are very skeptical of the pharma industry. They over generalize. But here’s an oddly relevant example:
“4/30/21 Griffin gave $5 million to DeSantis' PAC. Regeneron - $481 per share. Griffin is 2nd largest Regeneron shareholder & largest DeSantis contributor. 8/4/21 DeSantis call with Regeneron CEO & past several days traveling state pushing Regeneron. Regeneron now $628 per share”

    It seems so predictable

You cannot tamp out an airborne R(0) of 7. Not even with lockdowns and masks, only slow it. With vaccine, lockdown, and mask, you could possibly get R(e)<1.

Or just vax everyone and turn it into a mild flu in terms of consequence.

I can txt Telehoar if you want...

A few days ago, I caught a piece of a speech by the NZ PM about starting vaxing, but it was a brief sound bite w/o context.

He doesn't live in Breck anymore. I'm pretty sure I have an email address for him, and I'm Facebook friends with him.

Looking back on this, I think we might find that we were living through one of the most extreme mass delusions of modern history. Islamic fundamentalists are worse, it takes a lot of delusion to put on an explosive vest and self-detonate. And nazis. But I am failing to come up with another example.

Or how about the parent in TX who ripped a mask off their kid's teacher?

What's the answer to this manic lunacy? These people need to chill out. Heavy duty Indica baked into some cookies and passed out at their protests? Free red wine and xanax?

If one of you could pitch my idea, that would be great. I’ll have to see if someone has done it yet. (Haven’t seen it)

I'm just going to guess that will make it's way around the internet and loop back to TGR. But it will look subtly different when it gets here, and it will come back via Bunion or Wooley. Hope I'm wrong.

Probably the answer is a lot of them get really sick and some of them die.

The other answer is we continue the ongoing geopolitical sorting process until one area is controlled by wild infectious denial nutjobs and the other is controlled by hazmat suit gallon jug of sanitizer nutjobs…. And the rest of us “normals” have a choice to either “kick rocks” or “pound sand”.

I mean the hazmat suit gallon jug of sanitizer nut jobs have always been around (see: Howie Mandel). They pretty much leave the rest of us alone and they don't do things like ripping masks off of educators' faces.

I do like your Darwin take though. I'm with you on that one. The only problem is that when they catch it they go straight to the hospital for treatment. Which is driving healthcare workers to the point of despair.
