Yup, if you're vaxed you may still get infected w Delta (but far less likely than unvaxed), but it is extremely unlikely you will have to be hospitalized. The two studies I saw recently had vax efficacy against death at 99%+ and 100%. Pandemic of the unvaccinated.

Well, this is encouraging.

But that guy has a solid slapshot (seriously, I played w that guy yesterday and he's part of the reason I'm back to changing in the rink and not the locker room).
But what I don't get about these internet epidemiologists is how they just ignore CDC/Mayo, etc. Reliable shit is readily available and they could just as easily listen to people who know wtf they're talking about. Instead they go w what Tucker or the MyPolio guy says.

A caveat is whether the studies looked at cases since vaccination began or since about mid-June or so after which time most cases are caused by Delta. Because there's no doubt Delta reduces efficacy. In Israel the numbers now look more like 88-93%, instead of 99%.
Counterintuitively, even though efficacy has decreased, in relative terms the case for vaccination has only gotten stronger.
Good, make the stupid hurt.

Yes, round about that time but Fox News started it. When that came around, my conservative friends and family started drifting to an alternative universe. Believing crazy shit.

I'm okay with healthy skepticism but some of these clowns are taking it too far.
In other news-our office is about 40% vaccinated me included. I'd say a majority of un-vaxxed have had it. We just had a break through infection for one of the vaccinated. Of course the first comment was how's that vax working for you guys now?
It was via text as I've been primarily working from home. I didn't respond.

Response should be that it's working better than taking your chances and being intubated. Going to go out on a limb and assume your co-worker isn't hospitalized. Good friend of mine just got over a breakthrough infection--mild symptoms, hate to think what it might have been for him otherwise.

Yeah while a young healthy person who recovered from Covid (not just tested positive for SARS2) probably has pretty good protection, the issue is politicization.
A lot of people argued we should have just let the virus rip from the very beginning. Even though they were clearly wrong, they're turning breakthrough infections into an argument they were right. As a result there are people who haven't had Covid, or if they have aren't young and healthy, but are still choosing to forego vaccination.
I didn't engage as I just finished talking to this guy about how he has to move schools for his kids because masks went from optional to mandatory last Friday. Not a debate that is going to change any minds.
Not surprising.
Neighbor across the street and my neighbor 2 houses down from me moved their families to Florida over the mask and lockdown stuff in WA.

This one is the litmus test.
There was a time where one wanted to be viewed in the best possible light by their church and/or religious leaders. Pride in being viewed as fine Christian if you will.
But now, that insecurity quest has morphed to be 'will the other conservatives think I'm conservative enough? Am I suitably Trumpian?'
I don't know who will win.
