My son almost killed us this afternoon, that was somewhat annoying, after the fact. He was pulling from a side street into one of those half-assed rotaries that aren't big enough, so the cars on the through street going the other way can almost take it straight.

Why my son, who is 26 and has had his license 10 years and knows about rotaries from going to college in Mass and spending lots of time there, why he just pulled into it without looking or stopping is beyond me. Especially since we clearly weren't on the main road.

How the car going the other way, which was going way too fast for the road, seriously he was going 50 anyways, how it missed us is beyond me. He went by on 2 wheels and the horn and my son slammed the brakes without a millisecond to spare and somehow we're okay but holy fuck. Closest I've come to dying in years.

    Annoying. Or something.

Ice, we need you to live much longer so you can regale us with tales of being an old junkie, like you dreamed of.

Post a pic of the coupler. And the ball you had it on.

Dumber mistakes have been made. 1 7/8 looks a lot like 2”

Yeah she was in the back seat with the dogs. No yelling. I just said "You almost just killed us." She said, "Holy shit." Then she wanted to get wound up about it for a second but then she realized there was nothing to say. Which is remarkable. After that we pretty much just carried on. She and I just spoke about it again and we concur: Holy shit.

Same. If I recall correctly, weren’t there recent episodes of passing out, hitting his head and falling down the stairs? Or some combination thereof?

Even the not so small roundabouts aren’t always safe.

While that was probably not great for that driver... that roundabout did its job.

You've been dead for 5400 years.

Years ago I was doing about 50 on wide straight 2 lane country road, guy on the narrow 2 lane to my right stopped at the sign and then pulled out right in front of me. There was no way I could stop or even slow down enough to not kill him. The next thing I knew I was driving down the road he had come from, going in the opposite direction that he had been going. How I got there I have no recollection of--now, or immediately after the incident. When I turned around and came back to the intersection there were no skid marks to show that I braked hard (this was before ABS) or skidded through the turn. Somehow I managed a precise high speed turn onto a narrow road without thinking; I'm sure if I tried to that in a driving course I couldn't.

Another time I was driving on the Ohio Turnpike. I got on at Elyria and the next thing I knew an hour had passed and I was in Toledo--90 miles away--with no recollection of anything in between. Those incidents and several others have led me to the conclusion that my body functions best when my mind isn't involved.

Portable fans that cannot be disassembled for cleaning. I'm using the air compressor to blow the dust out which does a half-assed job. I have a couple of decent metal fans that are screwed together. Only buying that style moving forward.

    Give it the hose

Only a hack would disassemble a fan

Let it dry before plugging it in

Going back to the trailer ball thing for a minute, I towed a friend's car from his parents' house to his house a while back. Ball mount and ball were brand new and nut on the bottom of the ball pin was tightened before hooking up. Made it safely to our destination a few hours down the road when we unhooked the trailer and found the nut on the bottom of the ball pin backed off and the ball was wobbling in the ball mount. All the threads on the ball pin were hammered flat so it was loose for a while. We were using a u-haul car trailer with one of the screw-top ball latches and the only thing I can think happened is the screw-top latch was tightened so much (out of an abundance of caution no less) it started turning the ball and pin in the ball mount and loosened it up. That trip could have turned out way different.
