if you want i'll start a cocktail recommendation thread. i got a lot where that came from.
agreed yep. there's a reason why they call it bartender's ketchup. something don't taste right? add some st. germain to it.
bonus points, st. elderflower is like 1/3 as expensive and it tastes exactly the same. try an elderflower old fashioned using a nice wheated bourbon.
you should always have a bottle of st. germains, it's so versatile
This thread has gone badly off the rails.
Something with a dildo vegetable in it "rivals" a premium, traditional G&T or Margarita?!?!?!
Harrumph.
Not sure if this product has been mentioned before or not but there's a product local here in seattle called &tonic (https://www.andtonic.co/). I was first turned on to it a copule years ago while doing distillery tour as part of a work holiday party. They recommended pairing it with their citrus vodka. Now normally I don't like vodka and the idea of a vodka tonic is downright offensive but in this case, their citrus vodka paired with this tonic syrup and a little soda water was one of the better cocktails I've ever had.
I recently picked up another bottle of &tonic and it's as good as I remember. A little pricey but a little cheaper than fever tree or Q when all is said and done.
Based on the last page or so I'm slumming it with my New Amsterdam and Polar random purchase last night.
G&Ts are tasty and all, but when push comes to shove...

Later this summer Magic Number is going to make a live resin tonic. Mix that up and woooooooooooo
Let me lock in the system at Warp 2
Push it on into systematic overdrive
You know what to do
Beyond a beer or two, mixing THC and alcohol is a hard pass for me. One or the other only, thanks.
Different vibes for different settings.
sorry, y'all can chase me out or shame me for liking hendricks or whatever the fuck, but I'm too lazy to start a cocktail thread and this was worth sharing, on the topic of green chartreuse:
1.5oz redbreast 12 (could sub any number of whiskeys here)
.5 oz amaro (I used Waterpocket's Box Death Hollow)
.25 green chartreuse
dash lemon bitters (homemade lemon Scotch Bonnet Bitters in my case)
fancy cherries for garnish
stir on ice, serve up
basically a variation on the classic Tipperary, really delicious

Try substituting chartreuse for vermouth in a martini

Yeah that's great, but go easy on the chartreuse (like keep it around 7:1 gin to chartreuse if you still want it to be a martini) Or make a carthusian sazerac - sub the absinthe for green chartreuse and the white sugar for maple syrup.

Yes on that. Like a very dry martini. And use green, not yellow

Another fun thing to do in the summer is to mix gin, lemon/lime, a small bit of simple syrup, green chartreuse, and literally any herb you have (I've used mint, oregano, dill, and basil). So like this:
1.5 gin
.75 lime
Buncha dill
.25 green chartreuse
.25 simple
Muddle the herbs, shake on ice, double strain into a chilled coup.
This format works equally well with a good rhum agricole or cachaça, especially with dill/lemon mint/thyme as the botanical. Brings out the grassy sweet flavors of the sugarcane distillate.

I’m not really sure, but it’s here. I think there’s a general cocktail/what are you drinking thread.
