Do it! I feel bad for people who are still having so much trouble getting a shot. Half the adult population of the country has already gotten at least 1 dose, and they're administering 3 million doses a day, I cannot reconcile that information with how difficult it seems to be for people in certain areas to get vaccinated. Something's fucky.

Actually, found what I think is the answer. DC has one of the lowest median age of the states and DC. Utah is even lower which probably answers Adolf's question.

That would make sense. They're not allotted much vaccine because they have a younger population. What was weird to me was that UT opened the vaccines up to 16+ yr/olds a few weeks ago? you'd think there would've been a run on vaccines by now..and then I looked at this and see they've dolled out 85% of the doses they've been provided: https://www.beckershospitalreview.co...inistered.html

I don't think that's correct, the 50% number. What you're saying is that 50% of 18+ yr/old people are vaccinated? According to this site 93,631,163 million people have received 1 dose or more. US Census estimates show 73% of our population is 19-years or older (why they don't do the cut off at adulthood is beyond me), so lets just say 74% are adults. 328 million people in the US, 74% of that is adults, so 243 million adults, with 94million vaccinated, or 38% of the adult population is vaccinated. Still a long way to go and a lot of people angling to get shots.

It also has by far the highest percentage of Black residents and ranks 39th in percentage of people over the poverty line (but is a much more expensive place to live than any of the states and territories below it).

48 hours after first moderna and feel all normal again. That was a wicked ride. I should reiterate my younger-middle-agedness paired with likely covid infection in early 2020 + hyperactive immune system; I get rashes, hives or inflammation with most everything.

I'm just so damn tickled at the thought of getting jabbed that I keep thinking about all the things I could do more comfortably like get my insanely long hair cut. It's so long I'm going to be able to donate what I cut off to a program that makes and donates wigs to children with hair loss related to health issues.

Paper last night reported there will be 1k possibly 2.5k doses for this clinic. I have 2 friends who volunteered and both got jabbed so fingers crossed. If not... oh well...I need to volunteer more and at this point it's not that far off.

Save a little of that spare hair for my forehead. Back on topic, I’m 10 days from shot 2 moderna. Sore arm for 48 hours but no other side effects noted.

Fever lasted all day. Woke up fine this morning. It was weird to have fever but not feel sick at all. You could have worked through it.

14 hours later and I have no complaints. Arm is less sore than the first shot. I couldn't even sleep on my left side after that one.

I should add that I took my Enbrel shot the night before I got the vax. It's possible my immune system just isn't doing much.

Then the county tried to coverup the debate between the sheriff and public health. It seems to me that cops in this country are actively undermining efforts to control the pandemic. Not surprising.

Emergency rooms are full everyday of people having medical issues. If you vaccinate 1000 people some of them are gonna have unrelated medical issues in the next week. Then people are gonna be like “did you hear about Jim? He got the vaccine and a couple days later he had a heart attack!”

Fucking WA. Local hospital has many vaccine openings for today, there was a news article yesterday imploring people to signup and it’s still not full. I start a job in utilities next week where I won’t be able to distance, but apparently I’m still not eligible to sign up even though they will likely have to throw out doses at the end of the day.

Now.. now... I feel your frustration, I'm in a younger healthy group too. That said... I feel sure they are not throwing out doses of vaccine.

If it doesn't bother you just lie when you fill out the eligibility form. They are no longer checking. My GF in Seattle added 12 years to her age to get the jab.

Now.. now... I feel your frustration, I'm in a younger healthy group too. That said... I feel sure they are not throwing out doses of vaccine.

As it was explained to me in one location (no idea if this procedure is widespread but it makes sense), they only pull out one vial at a time as needed, which has (I think) 6 doses. So at most, if people cancel or don't fill up the slots, they only truly throw out 5 doses and likely less than that. The remainder of the vials stay in the deep freeze. Which still sucks, vaccines should be going in people's arms! But at least they aren't being tossed.

I imagine that some vaccination locations do not have deep freeze capability, so perhaps more doses are being thrown out there, but I cannot imagine that in the morning they would bust out 100 doses out of the deep freeze just because they have 100 open vaccination slots for that day, and throw out 80 of them because only 20 people show up.
