not sure about st george/hurricane area tacos, but Tacos Los Panchos in Fillmore is my choice, followed by Tacos El Jefe in Cedar,
    also,
Centro woodfired pizza in Cedar City is fantastic, and the brewery, Policy Kings, isn't bad!

Forgot you had asked. La Cocina and Jalapenos in StG are both solid (both on Bluff Street). Alfredos in Hurricane is also quite good.

So much for quiet camping and riding at little creek.

Do I sense a shitty gravel/taco ride? Hurricane to Fillmore taco grind?

I'm in for taco-based gravel rides.

A stop in Caliente along the way is always warranted. There is a (mediocre) taco truck in town now.Click image for larger version.

Ended up recruiting 2 friends who decided the forecast in SLC was too uninspiring and they might as well go bike. We scored a prime camping spot on Goose and stayed there a couple night, rode Goose on Day 1 and 3 and Wire/Grafton on Day 2. The knee did shockingly well and I only noticed it when pulling the back wheel up ledges on Day 1. By the 2nd day the ass pain was so distracting that I could have nailed a tree with that knee and not noticed. I got way looser than I wanted to following people who are much better riders than I am but somehow managed to stay upright and not die (my new wheels also survived their first test). It's a tough place to get back on the bike after 1.5 months of inactivity, the de-conditioning was real. My legs fared better than anything else, my upper body is really worked. The style of riding is insanely physical but oh so fun.

Thanks to everyone who shared beta in here, we rode a bunch of the recommended stuff and it was a blast. Also, a shootout to Teotihuacan mexican food in Hurricane for all of your taco needs.

I'm glad to hear you had fun, Boissal. How was the road to Gooseberry? We're wondering the Winnie can get in there. It's probably as capable as a full sized 2wd van.

We're around the area for about 12 more days in case someone wants to get together.

You'd have no problems whatsoever getting to the parking lot or any of the campsites. It's in really good shape right now.

How are the trails in Caliente? I have been following the progress on MTBR for years, but haven’t really talked to anyone who has ridden there. I take it it is a good ‘passing through’ type of network, but not a ‘destination’?

It's pretty fun. There are 2 areas, eventually to be connected. The Barnes Canyon trails are very fun and offer lots of lapping options. The huge gravel parking lot appears to allow camping, and has the cleanest pit toilet I've ever seen. Kershaw Ryan is a nice park with cheap camping and some fun XC trails.

I wouldn't call it a destination yet, but Caliente is a fantastic stop. You are unlikely to see anyone in the trails, but they are in great shape.

Suicidal Tendencies outside of Santa Clara is one of the best trails I've ever ridden. It's a true masterpiece of construction and routing. I'd love to buy the builders beers!Name: 16152558008624.jpeg

Well, this is interesting. I might ride the moto today if pedal trails seem too wet.

The True Grit race today-Sun is going to absolutely wreck the St George trials if they got as much moisture as we did here near Grafton.Name: iMarkup_20210311_080417.jpeg

    Lol!
My understanding is the prevailing winds go FROM all the nuclear test sites outside Vegas TO St George. So enjoy.
    No longer stuck.

looks like more on the way too. doh!

edit: can you get down to vegas? the weather looks better down there. I can give you some info on a free camp spot to park that thing while you're cooking meth and with some biking nearby, vegas has some great riding.

Haha! We're actually on the way to Vegas now. We stopped at the Moapa trails, which are really fun. Will prob ride Bootleg tomorrow and Blue Diamond Sun. If St George has dried out we will prob go back there, since we do want to ride the various Mesa networks on this trip.

Our meth cooking has really been pretty slack on this trip, but I did whip this up tonight.Click image for larger version.

Conditions are fantastic around Hurricane right now. The dirt is tacky, and the crowds have arrived. I saw 1 whole person on Secret trail yesterday (and like 50 on South Rim).

FYI 50 miles of singletrack on Gooseberry feels like a lot despite the small amount of climbing. They don't give out miles easily here.

We're heading home tomorrow, but will be back. This area is amazing.Click image for larger version.

50 miles on the mesa is a metric shit ton in my book. Strong work.
