Yesterday afternoon was as busy as it’s been all week. Lot of folks leaving, but a shit-ton replaced them, only to wake up to rain. Shop is dead today, we need a down day. It’s been busy for two months now.

It will probably pick up in 14 days once they're out of quarantine.

First place they stop is the ski shop. Wearing the n95 mask for ten hours a day is getting old. Looking forward to the end of the season. Skiers don’t give two fucks about the locals. Come in the shop with a coffee and drop your mask to take a sip and then get pissed when I tell you to fuck off.

Set the Wintersteiger to 3 degree edge bevels and don't detune the tips. That'll teach them.

The hanging burr on the 3*, yeah they would hate life that day. We run the gummi tip to tail out of the machine on the 2*. Shit is sharp.

many families left to meet their 7 day quarantine and negative test before returning to school next week. But then again there are other families that go up every weekend, eat out, hang in the lodge etc wo a care in the world.... our group of 5 managed the whole weekend w/o going inside anywhere in the whole state except our rental and that's with 2 kids under 6 in tow.

    Meanwhile in Jersey;

The abandoned rail line is starting to beckon me - digging out an old tele setup to start finding some peace out there, somewhere...

Always wanted to see how far that line went without interruption.

You are a front line worker, regardless of whether or not that gets you access to the vaccine sooner. I feel for you. I can’t imagine wearing a mask at work all day. My wife suffers through same as a teacher.

As to traffic and skiers and such, and this is an honest question and not some snarky forum bs. While I can’t speak to all skiers, my brother is one of the a’holes who doesn’t respect the mask, and therefore isn’t respecting locals trying to get a job done in the midst of a pandemic. I get your ire there. However, speaking for my family, and plenty of others I know, there are a lot of skiers who are respectful of the difficult situation. Yes, we live in NY and we have travelled within NY to ski. We use local shops sparingly as necessary. We always respect the mask and social distancing. The question really comes down to, in your eyes as a front line worker, are skiers like that part of the problem, or a necessary part of the solution?

Is it fair to lump all skiers together? The alternative to dealing with skiers, some of who are definitely a’holes, would be no skiers. If no skiers meant limited business, with local businesses struggling more and laying off front line workers, would that be a better situation?

It continues to amaze me how many people just can’t seem to understand this. I was on the chairlift the other day and guy was talking about how he was going back to the city and then coming back up for the weekend and when I called him out on it, he got all pissy.

This is why we can’t get control of this shit because people are fucking assholes.

I am certain that he will stop at 3 ski shops on the way out of town and back in just to tell everyone how much a fantastic skier he is.

If it goes east, it could be a gateway to some very nice turns on the rolling hills dotting the Meadowlands.

Vacation week anthem... from Vacationland with our sympathies.

    You're keeping in step
    In the line
Got your chin held high and you feel just fine
    'cause you do
    What you're told
But inside your heart it is black and it's hollow and it's cold

Just how deep do you believe?
Will you bite the hand that feeds?
Will you chew until it bleeds?
Can you get up off your knees?
Are you brave enough to see?
    Do you wanna change it?

What if this whole crusade's a charade
And behind it all there's a price to be paid
For the blood on which we dine
Justified in the name of the holy and the divine

Just how deep do you believe?
Will you bite the hand that feeds?
Will you chew until it bleeds?
Can you get up off your knees?
Are you brave enough to see?
    Do you wanna change it?

    So naive
I keep holding on to what I wanna believe
    I can see
But I keep holding on and on and on and on

Will you bite the hand that feeds you?
Will you stay down on your knees?

Will you bite the hand that feeds you?
Will you stay down on your knees?

Will you bite the hand that feeds you?
Will you stay down on your knees?

Will you bite the hand that feeds you?
Will you stay down on your knees?

It's what Spotify is for. Nobody cares to click on your Vevo video's.

^^^ See... that's more interesting. Even though I doubt you meant to play off the Bowie reference above with Ice sampling Bowie on the intro...Good job

Just went down the Bowie rabbit hole. Listening to Scary Monsters now. Never gave that album a full listen. My wife has been listening to full albums lately so it got me on that kick as well. It's a refreshing change to the typical random mix or stations mix that we usually do.

Back to rain, sleet, and annoying tourists....

No, not all skiers...entitled fucks that happen to ski.

Here at Magic, I have noted about 95% of the people complying with the mask mandate in line without having to be reminded. The repeat offenders tend to ski on Kaestles and Stoecklis...draw your own conclusions.

In Buttah's work town, there tends to be a whole lot more entitled fucks than in Londonderry.
