They should live in UT, all the 70+ year olds we know have had their first shot and many including my wife and I have had the second. This is not rocket science, far too many states got cute about who to vaccinate first instead of focusing on the most vulnerable.

Mom is now 24 hours post Shot#2, only side effect is slight soreness to the touch at the injection spot on her arm.

Mentally and emotionally this is huge for her, she is so much more upbeat than she has been since the pandemic started. It’s great to see her mood turning around.

That’s great news Harry. New Hampshire has it dialed in, super easy to make my appointment. April 6, first jab!

The line at Bristol Motor Speedway this am. After the red line ends, you continue over the ridge which brings you out at the upper end of the dragstrip. Another 1.5 miles later, you are at the vaccine station. Looks like the line is about 4 miles or so long.

Wife got Pfizer #2 a couple days ago. Virtually no side effects which concerned her more than if she’d had some. Kinda looking forward to using the “but you’re vaccinated” excuse whenever the need arises to go out in public.
Remind me. We'll send him a red cap and a Speedo.

I’ve got 8 relatives 60-70 in WA (Jefferson, King and Snohomish) who were able to choose a lot of available slots, but that was a couple weeks ago, and required some repeated time on the computer. I’m guessing the counties and Amazon’s initial supply of appts has met demand now?

The only person I know (that isn't a medical professional) who has received the their first shot got it a few days ago. She said it was easy to get the appointment, and when she arrived, she was the only one there (Haggen Pharmacy in Whatcom County).

You might want to intercede on that one.

Our county has a population of about 160,000. At the moment, they are saying 5.7% have been vaccinated, about 9,120. This is the scene at the track every day until they run out of vaccine. Point being, barely making a dent.

MT isn't getting enough to distribute either. They're still not up to people who take immunosuppressant medications barring organ transplants. I think they're trying to get all the natesters vaxxed because of their usually "denser" living situations.
What really irks me is obese people qualify in the current group too (1b, I'm 1c). Fucking fat people chose to slam soda all day and eat like shit. I didn't choose to have a potentially debilitating condition that needs to be managed with Enbrel. That's just genetics.
    People are fucking disgusting.
At this point, I'd take the J&J vax no problem. Just want to get back to work.
    No longer stuck.

My wife and I think we have appts at Rite Aid--we'll see if it actually happens--I think because Rite Aid just started and a lot of people aren't checking there, and because there was a glitch in the enrollment process that I was able to figure out a workaround.
Meanwhile CA just signed contracts for Blue Shield and Kaiser to be in charge of distribution--pissing of the county health depts who were doing a shit job of it. The idea that you might have to check 15 different websites to see if a vaccine appt is available is beyond absurd.
I checked I think it was CVS before Rite Aid and was given a slot for the first shot but it wanted me to schedule the second but when I tried to do that it said no appts available for your second shot, come back later to schedule your first and second. Hopefully they get the process sorted out before those available first shot appts go unfilled. Hard to blame the pharmacies for web site glitches--they are new to this. Hopefully Kaiser will figure out how to set up a one-stop web site for all vaccine locations, even better if there's a wait list and you get contacted when your number comes up. They still need to do outreach to folks without computers and basic tech savvy.

    Awesome!

And to anyone thinking I'm being hyperbolic, I was at home for most of my sophomore year of high school. My life before Enbrel wasn't great, especially about 15 to 18. It didn't help being a weird kid, either, lol.
    Fuck fat people.

Mom has an appointment at Fenway this week. So perfect since she’s such a huge Sox fan.

I'm a fat person. Fuck you too. And I in no way expect my weight to bump me up in any waiting line for the 5G injection.

I don't get how some places can have such a great vax program and others are so fubar. Here in W2 county when you get your first shot (which is a breeze to sign up for) you are given an appt for your second. They make it for you right there and then.

that's how Rite Aid says they're doing it. I suspect the CVS thing is more of a system glitch. They thought they were simplifying things by booking both appointments together but forgot to open slots for the second shots.

In further CA vacc news--a bunch of fitness trainers got shots because the state classified outdoor recreation as "health care" so the trainers were health care workers. They've since changed the rules.

My parents both got their first shots in San Diego on Saturday. They said they were in and out in under 30 minutes.

People.... So, my SIL texts my wife this weekend, excited because she's scheduled for shot 1, yesterday and her husband is scheduled for later this week. In WA, you are eligible if 65 or over or if in a multi-generational home. Neither of them are 65 yet BUT, their rationalization is that they have their grandkids over on Mondays for Grandma day so, they're a multi-generational home. No, their grandkids have real homes with the SIL's two daughters and are only there on Mondays. What's really driving this is that the SIL has dinner parties with a group of friends who rotate houses and they're all getting their shots so they can continue to party on without the virus. In the meantime, we're waiting our turns (wife is scheduled as she's already eligible but had a hard time getting a time) until eligible. I won't be getting mine until sometime this summer, if I'm lucky enough to get it by then.

Yeah, the "honor system" kind of breaks down when so many people seemingly have no honor.

Exactly. Just pissed me off when I heard this but par for them. In the meantime, there are still a number of people we know who are in their 70's who've been trying to get scheduled and are not having much success while remaining in self-induced lockdown. Things do seem to be loosening up a bit for times but it's still hard.

Not that this justifies it, but maybe it tempers it a little:

Dinner partiers jumping the line is not all bad: if we self-selected based on concern about the virus (which is happening in a few ways) we'd wind up vaccinating the most careful people first. Which would certainly be more fair and would probably help death/hospitalization numbers, but it wouldn't slow the spread as much as getting the collaborators out of the way.

Acquaintance who is a SJW just got her first shot. She works at a fucking artisinal bakery. She and her partner have been taking "socially responsible" trips to other states to go climbing and spraying about it on social media. Meanwhile I wake up every morning to check my email to see if my daughter gets to go to school. Just get your shot and stfu up about it. So tired of this shit. Between this and the college kid who volunteers at the hospital but has done very little to keep himself safe otherwise I'm about to lose my shit.

My partners sister who is in health care joined a family gathering in Arizona over the holidays but couldn't be troubled to wait until she was vaccinated two weeks late. Didn't expect much out of her basic bitch self but that was a shock even to me.

At least both my parents have gotten theirs so maybe they'll be able to visit us in the near future.
