    Speaking of the 70's...

Officers became suspicious when they observed an elderly man driving in an open Jeep in freezing temperatures.

And I can see 70 from where I’m standing.
My millennial/Gen z story of the day: in the past few months we've had *two* fire apparatus filled with gasoline, two separate kids. I don't ever remember that happening before. And don't even get me started on the inability of some of them to troubleshoot why a chainsaw won't start.

I'm trying to figure out what Eastwood is doing in that picture that has anything to do with mountain climbing.

He thought the title of the movie was The Eiger Skanktion?

It's not even a great pose. I'd give them some slack if he was striking some manly pose.

Trevanian pretty much killed himself after the movie came out.
Well, he was extremely mortified, anyway.

How old are you now?. 15 years ago I stood on the side of a mountain in a snow storm and watched you launch a 50 footish. Cliff and just bomb hole. Thought a couple things.

    I used to do that.
That boy is gonna feel that. 10 years from now.

Millennial here. Not disenfranchised but graduating college in 2008 was painful. That whole mortgage backed security crisis meant most people couldn't find jobs. I have several friends that still haven't gotten their life on track. Unemployed for a few years and then it becomes harder and harder to get a career started.

I had a dream about the Eiger Sanction last night and woke up promising myself I’d watch it again soon. Creepy.

Car companies. Broken down Jeep for 5 months and counting. recall part, won’t run without it. I’m 190th on the list, dealer is allowed one per week. At this rate- 3.5 years to get it fixed. refusing rental. Lame

There was one good scene in the movie--a fall on ice that was obviously staged by real climbers (I guess all the climbing must have been) that gave me butterflies to watch. According to Google, Haston had a bit part in the movie--as a waiter.

Great ice climbing scene in Touching the Void--the opening scene, black screen, no dialogue just the sounds of ice climbing--tools hitting ice, gear tinkling, breathing. Very evocative.

My kid had a warranty problem with a Subaru turbo engine, the only dealership in Las Vegas was backlogged for months on turbo engine repairs, after a while they wanted him to pay for the loaner. He went up the corporate ladder and they let him keep the loaner for free. I assume the Jeep isn't under warranty but since it's a recalled part and the car can't be driven until it's replaced you might get somewhere if you go higher up the food chain. Maybe you've already done that. With that many other people in the same boat maybe a class action suit? That sux.

I was talking to my friend about which cars to buy, etc. and I said that you almost have to try to not buy a Toyota or Honda, because they just work so fucking well, run forever, cheap to fix, why fight it?

Message a VP on LinkedIn. Had to do that to get my Nissan transmission covered under warranty a few years ago.

Did they put the diesel in the saws?

I'm a millennial, I had a millennial supervisor, who came out of the military, ask seriously how to tell if a pickup truck uses gasoline or diesel.

I also once taught a 20 yr. old on my crew how to tie his boots.

At some point in the production Eastwood must've been wondering what the hell he was doing in that picture too.

He definitely looks better in a cowboy hat than a too-small climbing helmet

Neighbors up the hill and back (there is some big steep open space between us and them) just got like 1000 bright blue led lights installed along all of their multitiered roof line that faces down the hill (towards us). Fucking shit shines right into the bedroom.
