What I like about Blister is that they're expert skiers who know how to evaluate skis for nonexperts. And they do a lot of comparisons so you might be able to know how a ski you don't know relates to one you do. With Blister I don't feel I have to demo a ski if I can't find it to demo.

Sure. They do a fine job, in spite of my general misgivings about what has disappeared from our community at TGR. Such a good job, in fact, that I gave them $60. That’s insane.

But when they do a flash review on a ski in January last year , and somebody asks a straightforward question a year ago (which happens to be the same question on my mind today) with no response or acknowledgment from them to their members, all of whom paid at least $60 for the privilege, well, that annoys me and makes me question the value proposition.

Fully understood that it’s their prerogative to piggy back on a public forum and ignore comments from their paying community. But this is the kvetching and whinging thread and that’s what I’m here for.

Yes. I know. I use it. It's still stupid. I have to drive extra mileage to drop it off. There is no reason we need a 10 cent deposit on bottles and cans when everyone has a recycle can in their front yard. It's wasted trips, it's wasted plastic bags, it's wasted admin costs, it's wasted energy running the BottleDrops. This from a state that is ostensibly trying to reduce carbon output.

You could achieve the same result by requiring all garbage companies in the state to provide curbside recycle, if it isn't already.

When you buy a nice new desk for your kid and it shows up with the hardware bag ripped open...everything floating around in the box...none of the main parts wrapped in plastic. Bunch of hardware missing since it fell out of the box and scratches on the unprotected parts. Oh, and of course the instructions are all fucked up. There's like 5 different screws that are unlabelled in packaging but labeled in instructions so you basically get a free puzzle with it too!...once I get new hardware

Always great. I put together a router table a few months ago that had several different sized screws. There were 1/4" screws that were identical other than thread pitch and of course I put the wrong screw in and by the time I realized it it was too late. Couldn't get it all the way in and couldn't back it out and it was critical, too. It was one of the screws that fasten the router base to the table. Tried every trick I could find and ultimately ended up having to buy a new router base.

I don't need anyone to tell me how to do that. PM me if you need me to tell you how, although it's probably tough to do with a mirror.

The fact that Lange still can't build a ski boot that doesn't leak annoys me. My liners are caked with snow every time I take my boots off. I know duct tape on the toes helps, but then you look like a pubescent gate-basher. Love my Langes, just wish they didn't leak like a sieve.

That’s funny someone on here recommend cheap charging cables and I bought a three pack 6 ft long braided nylon, they rock. Best $8 I’ve spent in recent memory.

The braided ones are marginally better than the gas station ones, I’ll grant you that.
But I find that the cheap cables charge really slowly.

Advertised as lightning cable, fast charging and data transfer but I’ve completely not tested that yet. “Aliwiki” brand. Only had them a week but seem good so far.

Look at the wire gauge (if shown). For USB, the charging pair should be as low a number as possible, so 20 is better than 22, 24, 26, etc.

And obviously, shorter (of the same gauge) is better.

That would be annoying. I've lucked out and managed to not lose my current USB-C charger. At least on my Pixel 3, it is silly fast. Like 15 minutes will take me from 0 to 75%. 30 minutes to 90+.

Think the issues with the cheap cables are with the charging unit or the cable itself? Both?

Been waiting on a large tax refund since I mailed return in April. Got a letter yesterday letting me know what my penalties will be if I don't file in the next two weeks 🤡

Associates at the hospital I work at being rude and argumentative with door screeners. WTF people, the door screeners are doing their job. Whether you agree or disagree with the questions, or the situation, either show up and do your job or stay the fuck home.

I can't imagine being a hospital door screener, having to deal with the general public and getting all sorts of privileged opinionated douchebags showing up arguing with them in the first place. Truly heros that don't get paid nearly enough for the shit they have to put up with.

This year was the third time I have had to send a copy of a certified letter receipt to the IRS for my wife's allegedly missing S corporation return.
