Problem is there is nothing underneath, so I was tagging stuff every third turn

Needless to say, there was a fair bit of traffic (not nearly as bad as some of the resorts though ), so the steeper parts got really scraped off by the end of the day

The short steep part at the top was not really skiable (I skied the road to circumvent) and the stairs immediately below the road were not covered

I did 2 laps - pics below are from the morning:

nice shot. was up there early yesterday. good amount of people filing in around 9:30. Slabs were still great, they don't typically hold snow like that from what I have seen.

I was up there on Friday. Took a snowboarder friend who is rather new to the BC... and powder. Which I didn't realize. It was hard to suppress the powder fever and move slowly, but I managed. Still found some nice turns.

Let me make this clear - THERE ARE NO FRIENDS ON A POWDER DAY.

Particularly some noob that is a liability.

I know... I know... After dropping her back at her car (more accurately, the trail that led back to her car), I got to the tippy top rul quick and enjoyed some excellent top to bottom powder. That was about all my legs could handle this early in the season, anyway. The only difference going solo would have made, is that I would have gotten to the top much earlier in the day. It killed me to have to let a group of college kids in frame bindings and a bluetooth speaker blasting shit tunes pass ahead of us - only to watch them skin up the ski trail. Ugh.

Edit: Just in case she finds this forum, I have to say - it was still a blast. I was happy to have the opportunity to show her around.

Why is getting low so important? Lots of freeheelers don't go knee to ski to turn.

    Where are you skiing?

another visit to a new (to me) ski hill
chill vibe, thin natural cover and some steps that will be fun when there's more snow. and just an hour away.

    (sorry for rotation)

For Hammerheads first check the cable guides. On the side of the bindings there are 5 holes. In one of them there is a button. If that button is all the way forwards the binding is the most neutral, where as all the way back is the most active. With old Pushes, those are reasonably big boots, so you probably want it in the middle (3) or one position back from there (4). Position 3/4 will help initiate flexing the bellows of bigger boots.

Pressure down (not forwards) through the tongue through the balls of your feet on both sides. Push your leading foot forwards rather than trying to drop your tailing foot back. Tailing knee should be ahead of your hips, often your tailing heel is in just the right spot to take a dump on it if you are in to that kind of thing. Pole plants are less about initiating the turn, so they should be less aggressive. Usually you will want the lead change to be before the pole plant while most folks default to plating then changing lead.

Thanks! They were all the way back and I moved them to the middle and it's making more sense.

I'm going to move the telebindings to a monoski next. Wish I had another set for the snowblades.

Teleboards are ridiculous. From 0 to mach loony usually goes ok (note there are no speeds in between). It's trying to get back to 0 where things start to get interesting.

A good stop often involves worried bystanders (and teleborder), a bad one leaves the bystanders trying to figure out if they should be calling patrol, the national guard, or FEMA.
