Cool that we're getting a consistent, good turnout.

Anyone doing festive 500? Usually riding 300 mi in a week in winter in montana isn't something i can pull off but thanks to zwift I'm signed up. I've picked out routes that will hit the miles but probably want to include some events and "group rides" into that. Can't believe how much time I've spent on this trainer already. There were definitely days I could have gone outside but I had some group event going on.

currently my list is pretzel, four horseman, london pretzel, bigger loop, dust in the wind, achterbahn, big foot hills, petit boucle. That adds up to 500km and change (there's a "lead in" to routes), and, uh, a bunch of climbing. I also have a thought to make a daily alpe du zwift climb a part of it.

I need some motivation. If you turn your rides into meetups and invite me (P MJ) I could jump in to give you a little boost while you're ticking away the miles and vert. I'm east coast so may not be available, but am always looking for a reason to get moving.

Here's my dungeon. Since this picture was taken, I've upgraded to a 24" monitor that my wife retired, but I don't want to go all-in and get a TV because I'm theoretically moving in the next 3 months or so.

Well done. This is the definition of a pain cave. Some of these other setups belong in a peloton ad.

Yeah once I get some of the schedule figured out a little better I'll post about it here and create a meetup or two. The other thing is that if someone you follow is riding, it'll show them when you start up zwift and you can get dropped into the game with them. So at the very least you can be like "hey I'm doing this route in about an hour if anyone wants to jump in."

Update your software/app. New roads added to Watopia. Only 4k, but makes for new routes and Badges.

Ticketchecker was the new joiner tonight.
    Plus 7 of the regulars:

See ya next week. I’ll send out the meet ups soon.
I know it’s Christmas Eve but let’s see who shows up.

    Fun stuff.

Are we OK with starting the fireworks a little early like we did tonight? I followed wheels on the false flat and 4 of us got separation although it definitely took a dig to make it happen. Personally, I'd like to revert back to the original design (detente until the hill) but what do others think?

Yeah I wasn’t ready for the push so I just hung back and pushed it when I was ready. I mean it is sorta fun both ways. The organic escalation was interesting but I do like knowing when people are going nuts. But sometimes people just get competitive and that’s fun too

Dee’s picture shows me in the dark grey, orange Z jersey. But mine has me in the Xmas kit. That dark grey jersey is the default for the Xmas kit, if you pick it out of your garage it will show as the bad Xmas sweater jersey.

Zwift has not released the new update on Apple TV yet, so that Jersey is not visible to me yet.

That was my fault. Was trying to push the tempo a bit, but went out the gate a bit too hard. Like to make you fast bastards work for it at least a little!

I’m finding that a good way to keep from accidentally lunging too far forward and then having to dial it back in the first two laps is to spin a much higher cadence than usual. It’s a good way to maintain intensity while still hanging with the group.

Oh this fat bastard likes it alright. Just want to make sure we're all on the same page and consistent with Dee's idea for the ride.

My first ride with the group was Tuesday. Seemed like a nice ramp up of pace starting 3rd lap. I had to work progressively harder. Hit the bottom of the climb with 5sec of power left in the legs. That's about right for my fitness right now.

I was going to get dropped no matter what but I didn't help my effort at all when my front wheel slipped off the wheel block causing the brake lever to hit the keyboard changing the camera to a side view of me shortly before the final climb. Had no idea what was going on up the road.

Thanks for waiting for me Dee, I might have gotten mugged in that neighborhood

I had heavy legs yesterday, and and when justcuz blew me away on the last climb (I blame the feather power up) I figured I'd take it easy up the climb and ride into the finish with you.

Yesterdays pace was a little soft on the third lap, if had the legs last night I would have pushed the front pace a little too.

I've linked my profile to zwift power. How essential is it to then link that to strava - it that a necessary step beyond recording stats for your own use?

I have a strava account but rarely use it - usually I am just using it for mapping out new trails in the real world.

It’s only a necessary step if you want to track stats and get the black Strava jersey in the game
