theres a photog in Utah that has mastered this art and made a career of it....seen many a photo of theirs on days I skied, and guess what? It was nothing like the photos...have literally sat and watched him set the athletes up for "the turn"....doesnt sound like a bad job though.

The one and only, grew up 2 miles south. The debauchery that occurred on that little bump back in my youth is book worthy...well, short story at least.

So funny....WMMR blasting through the stereo, the canvas yurt, the Langs ski shop trailer renting those skis with bindings that lock onto the plate...

DOuble chair lift line EASILY 30 minutes for 200 vert....God, being a kid, jostling with your friends to try to position yourself to actually ride up with a GIRL!!!

And of course, the rope tow on the 'Expert' trail that would rip your shoulder out and lift you off the ground all in one ride. It would hit that hump half way up and when you were a little kid, it would take all the strength you could muster to keep the rope from hitting the snow. And if you fell off, you had to do the ski of shame back down to the line....

In what was clearly an uncomfortable, TMI, unforeseen scenario I was subjected to mask-less Boomers at Stratton wanting to go Thunderdome on the underpaid lodge hostess when they apparently needed to do a number 2 & the elevator was not planned to be accessible for this cause & they were unwilling to navigate the stairs.

God, people are assholes sometimes.

Mid week tram closure great for those that don’t mind a quick hike or skin to some great terrain variety when conditions cooperate

I liked it when the Tram cables got wrapped, and Tram, Bonnie were all shut down. I think there was a problem with the Flyer, too.
So one could ski across the Catwalk, then boot up/skin from there. Everything on Tram side was nearly untracked..for days

Are they not writing about the hundreds of thousands of Nutmeg staters who will loose benefits in the Hartford Courant that you are only interested in the Vermont statistics?

Things are really rough all around for anyone in the service/tourism industry especially in states with tighter restrictions. Doesn’t matter if it is CT, VT, or CA. Shit is bad all around in for them.

Unless it is a busy weekend, Tram + Flyer or Jet shutdowns there can make for great skiing. On a busy weekend when one goes down - common for wind and/or red and jet just being old as dirt - it is a shit show. Curious how this season will play out there. I realize Jay needs to make $, but it had so much more charm and untracked in quieter times in the days of yore. Hoping to get a glimpse of the old days this season.

This sounds like awesome times as a kid. I didn't start skiing until 17, so missed out on all this fun.

I always leaned more WYSP but that's going down another rabbit hole. That tow rope was no joke and I'm convinced, kept Lang's in business just on the glove sales alone, 1 slip and it would either rip them off completely or chew right through the palms. We would beg our parents to pick us up at school with skis and everything packed in the car to head right there in order to beat the line and get 4-5 laps in before the hoardes arrived.

Clearly it's not the skiing but the skiing crowd that refuses to follow the rules is the litmus paper for what will cause Armageddon. I mean if you can't keep a mask on outside where it's cold, what expectation can anybody have that the same person will do so in tight quarters inside. Also, the pictures of Sugarbush seem to show that they had no plan to limit crowds nor spread them out.

the bush looked like jiminy on closing (march 15) day; it was daft ski area management then, outright negligence and (add your own...) now!

maybe bankruptcy is part of their business plan!
like pro teams throwing the season for draft picks.

You misinterpreted my comment, with only groups of 3 or more and 18 passengers max I think it is a waste of resources to even run it at all. Weekdays will be awesome for sure and booting to the summit weekends will likely take less time than a slow line.
