Lenawee Parks and Falcon were chalky goodness with some fresh to be had in some areas. Lift lines were almost non-existent.

Much better than Loveland, where 10-20 min lift lines seem to be the norm right now (to ski a handful of groomers).

Like keystone? I’d rather just ski the basin and keep complaining about the lack of snow.

But really tho I’ve been finding some soft low angle turns in the backcountry. Maybe I’ll figure out how to post pics to the site someday.

Went for a hike out of bear lake TH on Sunday and it was low tide on the banana bowls side. didn't go south at all so can't speak to dream lakes/mario gulley zones.

Anybody have any insight into Steamboat trail opening plans or current cover? Still nothing decent open. They got a good amount overnight and are projected to get snow everyday till this weekend. I'm supposed to be there this weekend but don't really wanna go if the best thing open will be Buddy's Run.

I agree there are fire closures, but skiing is not 100% closed based on my sources...

What is the purpose of post-fire closures during winter? I know there is a lot of work that needs to be done, like stabilizing erosion prone areas, but wouldn't snow on the ground inhibit work? Or is it because it's dangerous? Could the snow load cause landslides? Standing dead a hazard?
If there's anybody in the know here, I'm curious.

Fire closures for East Troublesome, Cameron and Williams Fork end on 12/31, 1/4 and 4/30/2021 (seems excessive) respectively.
I geek out on the idea of riding through cleared out burns, but those are harder to find than I thought. Last spot we rode was still pretty tight and littered with pungee sticks.

The fires could still be burning on the ground.

Go to a logging patch right now and you will still see burn piles smoking.

I know that deadfall is a significant concern if you were traveling through one of those burn zones. But I have no idea what the specific concerns were behind the closures.
