For real; zoom is the only app or website that is a massive resource hog. And I use plenty. That's an indictment on their shitty and harried engineering.
I won't argue that Zoom *doesn't* suck, but it sure beats flying across the country and infecting elderly friends & relatives.

    All good.

My gripe is entirely with corporations using Zoom. I guess the upside if there is any, is that it's better than Microsoft Teams.

What does that leave you with? Webex? I've heard that Webex sucks too. Seems like the problem may be inherent in the type of product it is? I've never really had much issue with any of them... <shrug>

Right? Zoom seems to work great for me. Maybe I'm missing something.

Google Meet, as part of our corporate G-Suite. Easy, quick, works well, and complete with a few nifty features to reduce bandwidth hogging.

I hate that shit. Firt time you ever visited the site and it's asking you to subscribe for updates or whatever. I just close that window and move on to another site.

Interesting - you're the 1st person I've known that has ever used Google Meet... and since it apparently works well, what are the odds Google kills it?

ETA: Actually, pretty sure my kid uses it for school... but not sure.

    Shit that annoys you

Still waiting on Pivots I ordered in early October..reached out to our Rossi rep and they keep getting back ordered. Since I install a ton of these each year...you’d figure the guy that installs them could actually get a pair from Rossi to put on his Moment C98’s...

*Maybe it’ll be a Xmas present....instead of a leg lamp...I’ll get my Pivots.

I have a house, my wife and kid live in the house with me. My kid goes to school. We have many utility accounts for the house (internet, trash, power, water). I know this is pretty standard stuff, I am not unique.

Why then is it so fucking hard for these companies and school district to have two co-equal people on the account? My wife gets frustrated because the utilities are all in my name and while she has all the login info and is on the account as an authorized person, still sometimes has trouble accessing info. And some people at the school do not include me on emails even though I am in their database as a parent.

Fucking annoying. It's 2020. You would think they would have figured this shit out by now.

Kids that take the old car into a curb after work, bending the shit out of the front suspension.

And we *just* got it back from the shop where it had gotten two new half-shafts (Subaru, of course).

I told the kid a bunch of his winter break "ski money" had just magically turned into "fix the car money."

This. We have a joint email for all kid things (school, medical, etc) and other things relevant to both of us.

    OH MY FUCKING DOG

Wife kept her maiden name (she's the hard core professional; makes 3X times what I did, so ...... fine by me!), so I'm routinely told that we're obviously not married so no joint accounts. Not for everything but a lot of the things that require constant oversight and correction, so ......

I do the taxes (my wife did them before we retired, now it's my turn to suffer). She originally opened our bank account. We have separate log ins to the account, but my view doesn't show the 1099 and when I call to get access they refuse. We're both on the account. I don't get it.

I'd do charitable stuff in December and because I'm lazy I'd just put down my name. She complained. I used her name the next year. Now she gets the spam.

Not to belittle all the suffering and those who have died (RIP) but.......

I'm going to be sooooooooooooooo happy when shipping/mailing times return to normal.

Inner and outer tie rods bent. Gonna be a pretty significant dent in the college "fuck around" fund.

Yup, I've got some stuff I need to order. But also some trips coming up. Not only can you not rely on something being in stock when the site (or a phone call) says it is, but you can't rely on shipping either. Don't want to have stuff arrive while I'm away. So I'm back to trying to track stuff down locally that I can pick up in person. Same issue with stock though, it can be a wild goose chase if it isn't something that's a pretty common item.

Menacing coyotes. Lost another goat, had our dog attacked, coyotes just standing & looking at you like "what ya gonna do". Good luck getting fish & game to do anything. Fuckers are gonna meet me from the blind.

Shooting them just kicks the can down the road a little bit. IIRC, coyotes can suffer up to 70% annual depredation with no long-term effect on their population.

If you want to shoot them anyway go right ahead, I couldn't give less of a shit either way. But, it's not going to solve your problem.
