Pfft. How is one supposed to keep their boots cold without a working fridge.

FYI, the guy who runs candlepower.com is a wealth of knowledge about upgraded headlight replacement bulbs. He steered me to some huge upgrades for my 96 land cruiser with only one snip to a plastic tab to make it fit. The site gets mentioned a lot on IH8Mud.

The Land Rover discussion on the last couple pages was front of mind when my brother in law took delivery of his new Defender this weekend. The thing looks pretty great inside and out actually. I just wonder what kind of year 1 Easter eggs LR hid in there.

Also, no refrigerator, so I guess that's a miss right off the bat.

Ask him to show you how to attach the towing hitch.

What a fucking hassle to buy and register a used car now. You can't just walk into the DMV and get shit done, it's appointment only and they're backed up at least two weeks. You can't even go in to get temp plates to bring a used car home, you have to make an appointment for that too and then it's two more weeks until you can go in to get the new registration/plates/title so it's a month from starting the process and without the temp plates you can't have insurance coverage so if something went wrong you'd be fucked. Oh and you can only go to a DMV office in your county and my county only has one office.

From a quick google it appears it’s as simple as buying a complex aftermarket system of bars and bolts to get around the body paneling. Am I far off?

Go buy the car and drive it home. Deal with it later. Of all the dozens of cars and motorcycles I've purchased, not once have I been hassled on the drive home after purchasing. SEND IT!

-Pads and rotors on all four corners
-Control arm assemblies (bushings are sloppy, but Nissan made the bushings non-serviceable so the entire assembly needs to be replaced)
    -Plugs
    -Muffler
    -Air filter

I think that's it. Only upside is BobMc gets all my money and I know I'm not getting screwed on anything.

For the brakes or for the neat little Flying B hub that never spins?

I never got hassled for it either. Until I did. Before you drive anywhere, go online in the state you buy it and spring for a temp reg. Call your insurance company and get it on there right away. Takes 5 mins for the insurance. Temp reg is a little more of a hassle, but if the cop that stops you is a dick, you can end up with a driving an unregistered vehicle/uninsured car on your record, and I'm not sure, but that may end up in a requirement to get high risk insurance. And if the cop toes the vehicle for being unregistered, now you gotta get home, pay impound fee, pay ticket fee, etc...
But you'll probably be fine. Send it.

Ah. That is quite a list. Brakes were probably a grand of that and OEM exhaust equipment doesn't come cheap these days unfortunately. Yeah. Bill sounds about right then. Still sucks when it catches you off guard like that, though.

My wife lets shit slide for way to long and her mantra is that if it starts up, all systems must be working correctly, but a bad muffler I'd be able to hear and call her ass out on.

Apparently it was a pretty small leak that I could have let slide for a while. But, at that point, fuck it, might as well pile on.
