Our skis do not measure short. 98% of the ski industry publishes ski length based on the length of the base material flat. This is what we do.

If you pull a tape measure from tip to tail on the ski once its pressed its going to measure shorter. You will find this to be the case with pretty much any major ski mfg.

Ah, makes sense. Thanks for clarifying. By the way, didn't mean to come off hostile, I've only heard great things about your skis

Pretty sure you're in ID, right? I've got 190cm Wildcat 108 & 118, and 187cm Meridian 107s you can take for a spin once the snow flies.

The oddity of this is that perspective is everything- one could say that ON3P measure long.........

I’d never compare em to K2 though

Any recommendations on Wildcat length, 184 vs 190? I'm 5'11" 160, quadzilla (from bikes, not skiing, but it transfers), ski Whistler mainly, I'm an old guy so don't hit drops but still ski as hard as I can. Have been on an ancient pair of Billy Goat 186's forever. Think they're 2011/2012s.

I'm guessing I'll probably be happiest on the 190?

    I'm 6', 165lb and very happily ski 190 Bibbys.

I would agree. Your height and strength make the 190 a good choice. They tend ski short as I remember days on the Bibby. Me: 6'0" 180 lbs (then).

I'm an old timer, 6' 2" 175lbs and only get 15-20 ski days per year in SE British Columbia. Ski a 190 bibby and wouldn't want anything shorter. The bibby's do very well in steep and deep trees and get you back to the lift comfortably on groomers

    I'm 5'8" and 150lbs and I ski the 184. Can't imagine you'd want anything less than the 190.

    THIS IS ALL YOUR FAULT.

If ON3P exaggerates their ski lengths I wonder what other lengths they may be exaggerating about...

When I was in college, I got a pair of Capital customs that was listed 184cm. I also skied 179cm Seth Pistols as my park skis. The K2s were the same size as the Capitals. So when I decided I was going to build skis, I just wanted to ski length to be...(reasonably) accurate.

Excuse the photobucket tag - I won't give those guys money. If I recall correctly, the Kingswood in this photo are 185cm and the Igneous are the 190cm FFF.

While peeps are talking about lengths for wildcat 108...

Im 5"10,175lbs, pretty strong squat and Deadlift.

Want a good balance between playful and stable.

    184 or 190?

Lots of preference and style involved... but most people would tell you 190.

I’m 6’2” 160 and I’ve skied both in the 118 width. I wouldn’t want the 184 by they were fun to mess around on.

The 190 is quick and easy in my opinion.

    I'd buy 190s.

I own 184s as a 6'2" / 175# person. I own them because I bought them when I was an even more mediocre skier for $100 and 5 years later fuckers won't die. They still rule, but I was kinda jealous when I fondled the 2 pairs of 190s that passed through my hands for mags a few years ago.

Let me put it this way, I will never ever sell my pair of Chipotle Bananas for any reason. They’re my favorite soft snow skis I’ve ever ridden, and are surprisingly capable when things firm up. I like to describe them as a fatter Wildcat that’s been bent to the sweet spot and just wants to stay there.

I'm definitley an average skier, especially so when compared to most here. I'm still getting comfortable on some double blacks at Whister etc.

I defs like to open it up and charge, but I also like to ski switch and throw the odd spin, so I was leaning toward 184. Food for thought here though.

    You could do either size.

It really is the basic do you want more playful vs more stability question. Most people find the 190 plenty playful in their new lighter constructions, hence the 190 advice.

That being said, driving a bigger ski than your comfortable with isn’t always the best for developing as a skier. Especially if it won’t be your powder ski, the 184 could have some advantages.

I'm exactly your same size and also lift weights (when the gym is open). Conversely to what others have said I went with the 184's because I mostly ski trees and having maneuverability is more important to me than stability at high speeds. I think the optimum size depends on the terrain you like to ski. Although, you do kind of look like a pussy if your not on the 190's.
