Interesting. How do you search the albums/songs? Assume the radio can do it somehow?

My favorite is the shower of CDs while driving because my wife used those over the visor CD holder sleeves and insisted on jamming them full.

I can live without toilet paper and hand sanitizer. But no Grey Poupon? No Soda Stream cannisters? It's really too much to bear.

Plus you can replace the drive with a 256 gb SSD. Unfortunately, they've gotten expensive on the used market.

I saw a nephrologist today (I have a long history of nocturnal polyuria, there's a thread in GC about it). They did a pre-visit blood draw on me last week and my creatinine was 2.8. Dude ignored my long medical history of normal creatinine levels, higher-than-average muscle mass, and my personal report that I still had DOMS from lifting the day before the blood draw (the latter two are well known to raise creatinine, no one told me not to exercise the day before) and was freaking out that I had acute renal failure. Ordered more blood work and an ultrasound of my kidneys on the spot, both of which to turned out to be (shockingly) totally normal.

Follow up: Just to be safe, and since it's cheap and not a big deal, I did a 24-hr urine collection test. CrCl was ~140 mL/min, which puts my GFR at 100+. GFY, doc (not OG, the other guy).

Just out of curiosity was your serum creatinine still that high with the creatinine clearance that good?

He didn't order another serum creatinine (reasons unknown). In the follow-up blood draw done on the day of that post (July 20) it was 1.18.

It depends on your car’s firmware; my reply is based on what works on a ’12 Toyota and ’15 Subaru:

Basically, if I’m in the mood for Coltrane, I pull out the stick that has jazz and classical, give it a minute or two to index while it’s playing the first track of the file system’s first folder, hit "Browse", then "Artist", then "Coltrane, John", then "My Favorite Things", and probably select the album’s first track; it’ll play the whole album.

Music files associated with each album should be loaded into their own folder, which can be subfolders of other folders (e.g. Ween folder containing folders Pure Guava, The Pod, White Pepper). Some cars let you navigate the flash drive via folders and file names.

Each music file also has "tags", metadata, including the artist name, album name, song name, track number, genre, thumbnail image of the album cover, and so on. Most car systems will index a drive (takes a couple of minutes) so that you can search by artist, album name, or whatever, play songs in track order, and so on (you can play tracks by alphabetical song order, so, with an all-Dead stick, you can listen to every version you have of Not Fade Away one after another). You should download a free tag editor (mp3tag for Windows is good) so you can add missing tags or correct tags etc (so that double albums have one album name and one track sequence, so that you don’t end up with album titles that begin with "30th anniversary edition", so that Coltrane can be found under 'C', and so on).

Sounds like a lot of work, but you only need to do it once. Store 'em on a hard drive or two. Then you can put all your CDs in a box somewhere.

I'm annoyed that the TV news keeps making fun of Bernie Sanders' wood stack. I'd vote for him because of that wood stack alone.

I rewired a friend's trailer lights yesterday. He's too old to post about it, but he gave it a go himself and lost his shit.

Woah. Ms Boissal would catch on fire is she saw one of these. The scenes she can cause when a 1mm spider appears in the house are going to get the cops called on us. She went from blue-trails level rider to full EWS pro this spring when we came across a rocky mountain tarantula on a trail.

There's a huge cat-faced spider that has made a web on my front porch. I don't see it until night when the porch light shines on it. I need to relocate it. It give me the heebie-jeebies.

When you ask someone for a specific piece of information and they try to second guess you and give you a different piece of information that does no good. I need one simple thing, the info I specifically requested. Why is it so hard?

What? No! I haven't been reading the "America is burning" thread lately. It's just that the couple of times I've gone to post wildfire info I've initially clicked on that thread instead of the wildfire thread.
