Fuck that overlord-government for telling me what I can or can’t do, but hey, private corporation telling me what to do? NBD, I submit not because it helps people, but because it helps me buy things
    Pretty much.

There always has to be an enemy in trying times. Government makes an easy target. Factions of which size of government or internal system is the biggest problem are formed. They argue. They each get nowhere. Gives me a hunger games vibe. Maybe some other dystopian world but it is ours instead.

15000 people crammed into 30 blocks, no masks, compromised health from drug/ alcohol abuse, living rough on the street for years on end, the lucky ones in an SRO sharing a bathroom, the downtown east side has been a very fucked up place for many years to rival skid row in any major city, so a catastrophe was planned for but nothing happened so its being studied,

and skid row is right next to China town in Vancover

I wonder if Covid skipped the skid row in other large cities ?

Maybe its cuz derlict street people don't interface too much with the fine upstanding folks who fly around the world in airplanes ?

Good piece on PBS News about how SF Chinatown has avoided the worst of the pandemic (at least so far).

When this started, absolutely. Now, it's the opposite.

There was an outbreak in the homeless shelters here in SLC awhile ago, I don't know about recently, but really we need more reporting in general locally as we are all in the dark on a lot of things. I miss local journalists.

Heard the term Maskholes vs. Covidiots today. It's a real Facebook war out there. FB servers are all lit up like Christmas. Throw in some Russian, Chinese and N. Korean subterfuge just to keep things at a boil before the Nov elections and this is high entertainment. All the ad revenue that just left FB will be pouring back in shortly.

Just look at the meltdown happening on little ol' TGR and multiply that by a really big number for FB.

One positive, social distancing is pumping the brakes on the spread of the herp and other sexually transmitted diseases.

China town in Vancover was a small area down town that was started 100 yrs ago right next to the area where the transient fish/logging/seamen came and went for a 100 yrs which became skid row

Now there is a huge chinese pop everywhere in Vangroovy , the suburb of Richmond is > 50% chinese, apparently the malls were deserted in late january cuz they had already heard about Covid and gone into self imposed lockdown early

    https://www.macleans.ca/news/canada/...ned-its-curve/

" Even before China locked down Wuhan, where the virus originated, on Jan. 23, business was slowing down in Richmond, B.C., a suburb of Vancouver with a majority Chinese population. Malls were emptying, according to anecdotal accounts, which members of the community attribute to early, precautionary social distancing. "

can you explain why you think the relationship between confirmed infections and deaths would be invariant across demographic, geographic, and temporal variations?

perhaps covid has already taken the low hanging fruit so the probably older people with pre-existing health probs, now it will be the stronger younger less likely to die ??

Cool, everyone back to work! Open up the schools, bars, restaurants, theme parks, and movie theaters! It's all clear sailing from here on out! And stop with the testing! It's a waste of time!

Also, many vibes to TBS's family and granddaughter

Sounds like onerous government overreach into private party disputes to me.
