And, of course, beer and barbeque afterwards.

    Few questions:
    1) Really just notational. If you are on a close cropped fairway just in front of the green and use your putter to get on, do you count this as a putt?

    2) For those of you that travel around to many different courses. Do you use a golf course app and go to where ever you can get a good deal, or, do you just go where you want to play?

    3) NY / Westchester. Heard an advertisement on the radio for a deal at Somers. Is this course worth traveling to for $79 for two with cart?
I just looked up the putting rule, part of the ball must be touching the green. So even if it's over the green on the fringe, it's not counted as a put unless is physically touching the putting surface.

Someone correct me if I'm wrong...golf rules can be teh funz to read and comprehend

Putts cost $.02 in my league of rules nazis. Fringe is not a putt. A ball stopped against the fringe costs $.02

    Isn’t Ridgefield private?
I know few people who are members there.
Yet I haven’t played the course yet.

    They weren’t my friends.
We were all single players happen to get along great and promised another round together within couple weeks.

    Somers can be an experience.
Great greens, okay fairways and shitty tee boxes.
Mountain course with a U turn par 5.
Most people who played there most likely won’t go back.
It’s gonna take me some time to consider play it again.

    Joined a ladies’ Thursday league.
Most of them are in their 50-60’s, okay players and super nice.
I couldn’t putt for anything but somehow still manage to hit decent 9.
Had lots of fun and can’t wait to play again.

    Thank you!
Standing at the 2nd place after Mary Sue who shot 41.
It’s not that I’m good, other ladies aren’t that great.
My playing partners were teeing with a driver at 117 yard par 3 and non landed on the green.
Paired with Mary Sue next Thursday.
    Face off!!!

Municipal / Public. Defiantly worth playing. But play with someone who knows the course well as there are a few hazards that you won't see and will eat your ball. This is another course with a paucity of course layout info on paper or on the internet.

RE Somers. Thanks. Don't think I'll be taking a drive up there.

I must think of somewhere else.
It’s the course held Northern Trust some years ago.

    Yeah.
Unless someone else’s driving, I don’t think it’s worth the trip to go all the way up there by yourself.

Your first stroke on the green is a putt and every stroke afterwards until you hole out.

That really looks like a nice course, I'm gonna have to get there one of these days. I'm in Ridgefield at least twice a week.

Somers is definitely worth $79 for 2 with a cart. I play there a few times a year but it is only 3 miles from my driveway. Conditions are good to above average, it's not easy and it's scenic.

46/38 84 at Montauk Downs yesterday. My best round in 8+ years. I played with a 73 year old dude who had the sweetest tempo and swing. I think it helped me watch him as the round went on, like got me thinking 'hey you don't need to swing hard to hit it solid'. He probably hit his driver 225 or so but he might have snuck it out there 240 a few times. It was fun playing with him. he was probably 6 or 7 over from the white tees.I've been playing with a 17 degree hybrid type club off the tee that I can get out there 220-240. I guess its like a 4 wood. I think I might take the 3 wood out of the bag. I have only been hitting the driver on the most wide open holes since I have the 2 way miss going with it. I need to fix that and get my driver under control. I took a 7 (2 off the tee) and an 8 (huge miss club) on the 2 front par fives. Without that it could he been an all time round for me. I played some 'drinking rounds' over last weekend with buddies and and pitch and putt 9 with my son the night before, I think it really helped.

I’d suggest hitting 3 wood instead of driver until you have confidence in the 3 wood. It’s an easy transition to driver once you groove 3 wood. If you aren’t hitting your driver with low spin it won’t go farther than 3 wood anyway.

Took a lesson about 30 years ago. After watchin me hit a few with the driver, the pro asked me what I was aiming at. "250 marker" said. Pro say, try swinging for the 180 sign.

As of right now there is a 10:57 single slot available at E.G.Brennan. Sterling Farms doesn't have a slot open until 3:10 at the earliest.

If I don’t find anything, I’ll probably just drive out to Bethpage.
Out of 5 courses, one gotta have an opening for a single.

Most of my golf has been showing up as a single. Enjoy the golf if you hook up or enjoy the golf while you chip and put.

Played 18 today and the swing is back. For now. Not quite a Rory Mcllroy follow through but close. Fellow I played with was long and struggling until 18. Almost holed out his 60 yd wedge for an eagle.

Hot and steamy one today. Was even hoping for a storm interruption as we need the rain. It's amazing to see the course getting so beaten up considering the exceptional shape it was in at the end of May when they reopened.

2 pars and a birdie on the front along with two missed opportunities. Including this one -

Looking at 3rd shot, par 5, 6th hole. 155 out.

Couldn't carry it over to the back. Only one par.
But the best in a couple of weeks for me.

    F*ck!

36 on the back was 2 better than my best +1 as it is a 35 par. Was killing it, came into 18 even, Tee shot into the fairway bunker (reachable par 5). Oh no I was under the lip and had to chip sideways. Couldn't quite pull it off on the recovery efforts but closed for a bogie. Came back roared my way to a Tiger Slam but no dice on the back. (I'm at 11.6)
I'm cool with this, as long as you Kirkwood Bro Brah's stay away from Heavenly when 88 closes- TahoeBc

Broke my sting of 41's with a 40. One double, 2 bogies and a couple of pars I pulled out of my dupka. Won $30.

    Great view leaving the course.
