Strangely, Costco's measures put me somewhat at ease even though I go through a level 3 decon procedure when I get to the car
I agree with that and our Costco was pretty chill the last time I went in. I think it's the least a business can do to require their staff to wear a mask. I'm masked up all day at work and I hope that it makes the people I interact with feel a little bit better.

Made the call last night to cancel our planned wedding.

Now have to figure out how to piece something to together in our home state in about 2 months. Everything is way more expensive here to create a similar idea. If anyone has leads on a big rental in the mountains -- sleep 14 folks, dog friendly, space where we can all dine together and enjoy sights and sounds -- feel free to message me. Looking through AirBnB/VRBO right now is just depressing as fuck.

Fucking hurts and sucks. It's not losing a job or a loved one. Fiance has been in tears for the last 3 days.

Why not just wait another year? Seems plausible. She's gets her Dream still, she just has to wait. Otherwise? Door #2 monty

Because we want to get married and we want our family to celebrate.

We are planning to go over the following year. But frankly -- who knows what travel looks like then especially for the 5 guests over 70 years old.

Vibes, man. Sorry to hear it. Lots of those stories out there now I'm sure.

Maybe tie the knot now in a super low key ceremony, and throw a grand party when able...? Kinda wish I would've done that. Mostly to make everything simpler

Seconded. Golden opportunity. With that sort of luck you should buy a lottery ticket or two.

Condolences, d00d. Sucks. We'd help if we were in shape, but everything is on hold.

Thanks. Yeah -- that's a possibility. May just say fuck it, go for a long backpack and sign the cert along the way. Don't need a witness here in CO.

That’s kinda what we did. Made our close family do a 10 mi hike to a remote alpine lake. Bro in law officiated a quick ceremony/vows. Signed the marriage certificate and hiked down. Next day threw a big party. One of the best decisions we’ve made.

    Sorry mang, that sucks.

I think the idea of doing a backpack and getting married sounds like a great idea. Throw a small gathering (if that is something you and your guests are up for) afterwards. And plan the bigger expedition wedding for the future.

This is such a fucked up time, where we're all supposed to acknowledge that whatever we're experiencing isn't "losing a job or a loved one" while we're still grieving. It still sucks.

Even though I'm now going through an ugly divorce - the big wedding 15 years ago was pretty great and I think it's an experience worth having (so no regrets). You can always get married officially and then do the reception later on when it works.

That's what our kid is doing. His fiance is in school so if they're married the DOD pays her tuition and of course taxes are lower--so waiting until they can throw a big party would be very costly. (Plus they can't afford a big party right now.) The other kid is planning a destination Aug 2021. I'm thinking 50-50 chance.

    oy

i don't regret my marriage but the money her old man spent on the wedding would have been a down payment on a house in seattle in the late 90's with the incomes we had

Well -- our plan was never like that but thanks.

We were gonna spend about $5k on the wedding including housing our families for a week in the french countryside and having a private chef the night of.

I can't think of something that matters more than a week of time with our families hanging out, drinking good wine and eating good food.
