If you plan on selling it before the end of the loan, financing it with zero interest isn't a bad idea. Especially if you put the cash into something that makes interest.

I'm curious if new VWs depreciate faster than comparable new cars due to the abundance of dieselgate cars on the market right now. Basically, Volkswagen competing with themselves.

    But seriously,

Depending on the route the drains take--I just have a regular sunroof--take a long length of string trimmer string (the smaller diameter is more bendy) and snake it thru the drains. Done in 10 mins.
Tried that, but can't seem to access the rear drains from the top in this car.

Both times I've pulled the wheel well cover, the drain is always clogged at the check valve at the bottom.

Also, I have some of the 507 spec Castrol oil from my former 15 tdi GSW if any mag is in need.

VW is offering 72 months 0% financing on 19/20 vehicles. With the 6yr/72k warranty on the 19 Alltrack, I'm sorely tempted to track down a 6MT S.
I do have a set of low profile chains for it, but there is a pretty good risk of ripping the ABS wiring up from what I have read.

VW and such depreciate because they fall apart and are expensive to fix. Been that way for decades.

They sell like shit as well. Meanwhile hybrids and crossovers sell amazingly. VW can't even get a foot in that market.

But yeah... something about those don't have soul or whatever....

Sorry to crush your curiosity. I got my post dieselgate car at a nice discount. I'm sure it has lost value since then. They all do except Toyotas and Porsches it seems

? VW has been meeting/beating sales expectations in the CUV and SUV markets. 110k Tiguans sold last year. Atlas SUV selling almost as well. Reliability ratings climb higher every generation. In the U.K., for reasons we don’t need to get into here, repair rates are closely tracked and latest gen VWs are objectively scoring well in that dept.

or maybe you posted this in 2008, in which case I agree 1000%.

110k sales doesn't even beat the CX-5 from a much smaller brand.

Nearly half a million RAV4 were sold in 2019.

Yeah the Tiguan doubled it's sales. Yay. Meanwhile the Passat is dead along with the beetle. Gti competes with the corrola. The touraeg is dead. C'mon dude. The brand is German economy cars.

If you bring up JD Powers so help me God.....

Oddly, I have never liked the Asian cars, it is always something. Like ugly, lack of HP, CVT's, etc. Having always had European cars, I understand the first 80k miles is likely pretty dependable, but after that you pay.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

I own Japanese, German, Swedish and domestic. Brand loyalty is as stupid as political loyalty IMO

Most tunes these days cover their tracks, never heard of someone having their warranty voided. APR I believe offers warranty support if something were to happen.

Maybe, seems like I like Porches (now to expensive), BMW (we have had a bunch), and Volvo's (I like their wagons). Had a couple of VW's as a youngster with good results and one POS 84 Corvette that made me say "never will buy Amurican again". If I had the money to piss away on cars, a NSX would be nice, but that is about it on Asian cars for me. YRWV

Flagging TD1 is definitely a thing. Look it up. Yes, some brands will work with warranty. For an extra cost.

That being said, off the shelf tunes are not extreme at all and should almost never negatively impact a car. All my turbos have a tune. Factory tune is for basic bitches. No better economic way to gain power than a simple tune.

Toyota MR2 is the tinkerer's NSX. Too bad they went up in value a lot lately. Both are too sought after these days.

Not only did I not bring up JD Powers, I intentionally steered discussion toward useful data that counteracts the JD Powers bullshit.

Just so we’re clear here, you think this brand is ‘German economy cars’ yet from a factual perspective it’s on track to get 50% of US revenues from CUVs and SUVs....not that that’s a good thing but hey.

I test drove one of these for work - had a dealership that was interested in partially donating one to the group I work with.

They are more like a mini-van than a unibody suv like a toureg or q5. I'd buy a sienna before one of those things

I understand the sentiment. I USED to love Japanese cars, but they really haven't stirred my soul since their heyday in the 80s and 90s. I miss my RX-7. ...sigh... Maybe I'll go Italian next time. Those Giulias are gorgeous. Like an Italian woman though, those gorgeous curves come with lotsa drama. Mama mia!

That's for sure. Better have a little mechanic in the truck for the weekly snafu. The only way you buy an Italian car is if you have many cars and money to throw away.

True. Now if only Alfa made THIS a reality, I'd probably submit myself to the ensuing mechanical punishment.

No. For anyone considering an Alltrack, but wanting GTI/Allroad power: for an extra $1000 you can get the APR Plus tune, bumping to 234hp and 273lb/ft and a replacement drivetrain warranty - https://www.goaprplus.com/#golf

Glad I never did the tune. Lots of cracked cylinder walls on R's at Swedespeed.

Was this originally imported to the USA or Canada? That combo is like the holy grail to R aficionados.

Whether you pour money into it is really a function of how much can you afford. As it ages, the complicated 4c and Haldex can be costly to maintian. I think the shocks are / were around $2500 apiece.

When they started using bigger displacement they just bored out the cylinder more, thinning the walls. The 2.3's could handle a lot of boost.

I got a custom tunable ECU from "Tightmopedman" Lived in Durango at the time. Think he was a boarder. Put the factory ECU back in when the laptop I was using STB and various plastic connectors used through out the car started to deteriorate. Basically a town car now. Newer cars (1998) are so much better now.
