It's tough on everyone. So I'll give a pass. We used to believe we measured our country on how we took care of the weakest. Now some would rather gas them. f
Figuratively of course.
A few people feel the rain. Most people just get wet.
There is a big sign at the front door of the local Costco that states everyone in the store must wear a mask. About half of the people walking in had no mask, and the employee standing there didn't say a word. Not sure why they have a policy posted if they clearly aren't enforcing it.
Why should that employee risk getting coughed on or physically/verbally assaulted by a member of the deplorable class who refuses to wear a mask for the whopping $9.50 an hour they're being paid to stand there?
Could be a CYA/liability thing for Costco? Not sure how liability is going to play out with all of this, but it seems like it could be something along those lines.
And up here in a suburb of Seattle, I couldn't buy 5 single bottles of craft beer yesterday because the cashier insisted that I take my mask off to prove that I was the person on my ID when I got to the register.
I told her I wasn't willing to, since I had just been walking around the store handling things.
Kill all the telemarkers
But they’ll put us in jail if we kill all the telemarkers
Telemarketers! Kill the telemarketers!
Oh we can do that. We don’t even need a reason
Wow. You know, you really are an asshole. She refused to ring them up, but because I've worked retail/service sector jobs, I have a little more respect for the people doing those shitty jobs than you clearly do.
I was annoyed by it, but I wasn't rude to the cashier. I told her that I wasn't going to touch my face, but I did have two forms of gov't issued photo ID with me, and that if she didn't want to sell me the beer, I would be happy to just but the other items I had and be on my way.
She's following an idiotic policy because she doesn't want to jeopardize her job so some bearded dufus can drink bougie microbrew as he "shelters in place" while she's out there interacting with 100 strangers a shift.
Yesterday I went for a ride on a formerly quiet, litter-free local trail. Bouncing along with a jingling bare bell, I came around a corner to see a young lady squatting not 4 feet from the side of the trail, unable to move. Must have been urgent because she had to have heard me. As I came into view she threw both hands over her face. Bet she wished she'd worn a mask.
The fuck?
Trails are more crowded these days but no turd droppers.

Maybe your right. But I would not capitalize even the word maybe as its too definite at the present time. Alot of smart people on both sides of the Swedish / total lockdown debate. I certainly see Old Goats position as it is very close to my own but I don't have a lot of faith in my own position. I was just pointing out that in the Swedish model the nursing home thing didn't work out was planned. In 12-18 months time we will all see what was the best approach. Even the Swedes see eventual herd immunity as just a byproduct of their approach. The more I learn about this the more the worst case gets worse and the range of uncertainly gets larger. Or maybe the TGR experts are just so pessimistic.
I'm just glad I managed not to crash. Although that might have been a perfect response in the long run.
My wife was behind me and apparently her wits worked better--she's just related their conservation now: "Need a potty break?" "Yeeaaah" 10 seconds later: "Anyone else need a potty break?" Laughter.
We're guessing this group is in violation of our state's 14-day visitor quarantine. But we're smug locals, so who knows.
Are these sanitizing tunnels anywhere else? In Chile they have popped up in a lot of places, quite the polemic...

Here there are very strict measures for opening up commerce, no restaurants, gyms, etc, masks required and respected.
