Yeah, but there's a huge amount of data from a long period of time for the flu. I trust those numbers a heck of a lot more than the numbers we have right now for COVID-19.

Taibbi used to be a decent journo, now he writes everything w his smug cunt spin while pretending to be seeing both sides of an issue. He’s garbage peddler and him latching onto the censorship aspect of the Bako story is typical of him. If he thinks the vid shouldn’t have been removed, removing it was most likely the right choice.
Instead of attacking him on such a base level, tell me why his musings offend you. Be critical.

And no surprise another smug cunt wants to know why Taibbi has turned into a joke.

half a percent fatality rate that's primarily 65+ isn't going to prompt the walking dead but broken food supply chains sure as hell will.

Not having been educated in the US, how did your education system fall so low? Ghosts, creationism, climate change hoax, Trump. Probably should shore up critical thinking skills and readin writin ‘n rithmetic, and less on exceptionalism myths. Could take a couple of generations tho.
Well since at least Reagan but also before one of our political parties has been steadfast in its determination to starve the government. They’ve used divisive politics (guns, gays, religion, etc.) to hoodwink half of the country. All the while pushing the wealth created by workers into the hands of the “job creators”. It’s basically a push back towards feudalism/slavery. The boomers in have voted time and again not to pay their fare share of taxes, but rest assured they’ll be wanting all the benefits of social security and Medicare. This country is on a serious down slide. Most working class people are anti union after decades of being fed bullshit from the press. The only way to take it back from the “job creators “ is to organize. They’ve succeeded in dividing. We need to fight back by uniting. Happy May Day!

Replace Democracy with protecting their own Boomer "I got mine so fuck you" etiquette while pretending its empathy and you've hit the nail on the head.

You're another one who has been hoodwinked into thinking it's just one of our political parties behind this.

No I’m just realistic in our current two choice system that one offers a better chance to a better future than the other. I’ve been involved in left wing politics way before the Bernie movement. I’ve states I support his goals but don’t see his methods as working. He would’ve done much better as a labor organizer than a politician. Same goes for Nader. If either of them would’ve done grassroots organizing on the local/ state level they would’ve accomplished much more in furtherance of their goals that their quixotic goal of being president.

Seriously. It's ridiculous perch from which to cry: "it's not fair!". When was China ever considered a good-faith actor? Never. Our government's job isn't to take China at it's word, it was to protect it's citizens and foundational elements. That means treating any and all intelligence and foreign information as suspect and applying policy, through competent execution, that is focused on our welfare - mitigating risk, uncertainty, known threats, etc. That's the fucking job.

the GPS ones are a joke (like Utah's app). GPS doesn't work for shit indoors, nowhere close to well enough to determine whether you're within exposure distance to another person. it is especially fallible in large buildings (supermarkets, offices, restaurants, etc) which is of course where it's actually needed. it does however surrender intimate privacy details to, in UT's case, gary herbert and the mormon church.

the google/apple whitepapers described a bluetooth based protocol that was fairly privacy-first I thought. I guess not all parts of europe felt it was sufficiently respectful of privacy, but it's a fucking far cry better than a GPS based "solution"

Th slippery slope that concerns me is the government, trumpsters and some of the posters here think I should die for the economic benefit of Fatherland. Slippery slope. Buchenwald is next? Not the camp, just the results.

And you think that your small chance of dying should reduce life expectancy, education, Quality of life and wealth expectations for millions of others.

Might not be the best but it’s that the choices we’ve got. You can decide for yourself how you vote. But continually playing into the GOP’s ploy of dividing us as you are prone to doing isn’t going to help
