Can the OP change this title from Rat Flu to The Herd Thinner. Asking for a friend.
I have been in this State for 30 years and I am willing to admit that I am part of the problem.

I'm taking the same approach to the thread title that Joseph took to disciplining an unruly baby Jesus: not my kid, not my problem.

    From the ny daily news.
I’m particularly disturbed by the 13 beach drinkers this time last year. Jeebus.

An unusually high number of New Yorkers contacted city health authorities over fears that they had ingested bleach or other household cleaners in the 18 hours that followed President Trump’s bogus claim that injecting such products could cure coronavirus, the Daily News has learned.
The Poison Control Center, a subagency of the city’s Health Department, managed a total of 30 cases of possible exposure to disinfectants between 9 p.m. Thursday and 3 p.m. Friday, a spokesman said.
None of the people who reached out died or required hospitalization, the spokesman said.
But compared to last year, the number of cases was worthy of a double-take.
According to data obtained by The News, the Poison Control Center only handled 13 similar cases in the same 18-hour period last year.
Moreover, out of the cases reported between Thursday and Friday, nine were specifically about possible exposure to Lysol. Ten were in regards to bleach and 11 about household cleaners in general, the spokesman said.

People are handling those materials a lot more this year compared to last year. That article only compares the increase 18 hours after Trump's claims. The should have also looked if there was an increase before.

I don't always agree with Mr. Shot but we concur on this. I just don't click 'em, which may be my loss but I'll never know.

Beyond the standup there's a whole universe of conspiracy theories around Hicks, some of which may even be true (or not, of course) such as the ones that the government killed him or like this one that Alex Jones is actually him: https://www.vice.com/en_us/article/d...es-doesnt-like

Make sure to do a little reading on Hicks to get the full flava.

^^ American: The Bill Hicks Story is recommended, and available, along with some Hicks performance videos, on HooplaDigital.com (free movies etc, if you have a local public library system that pays for it).

He's a legend. Though he died not long after hitting his creative prime, so if you watch more than a little of his best comedic material, you're probably going to be seeing some of the same routines.

Study of the sensitivity and specificity of multiple antibody tests--new article with link to the paper (preprint)
    https://www.nytimes.com/2020/04/24/h...gtype=Homepage
Summary--all had good sensitivity for antibodies at 2 weeks +, lower prior to that due to lack of antibodies to detect
Only 3 had good specificity (<2% false positive). Only these 3 would give an acceptable degree of assurance that the person is potentially immune, and only these 3 would give a good estimate of the prevalence of SARS-CoV-2 infection in the community.
Weakness of the study--only symptomatic and mainly hospitalized patients were studied.
One take home--all antibody tests are useless for determining the prevalence of infection in a community with active transmission, since a negative result might mean that the person was infected less than 2 weeks. This would underestimate the prevalence of infection. False positives would of course overestimate it.

I notice the statement that a test with 14% false positives would be useless. But is such a test more likely to give repeat false positives on the same person? Because if not, two positives with the same test would be 98% reliable. Not that a better test isn't better, but shortage seems to be the current problem and doubling up on bad tests would be better than nothing...unless it's not.

California is offering 3 free meals per day delivered to seniors and other high risk people. Idea is not only to feed vulnerable people but to increase restaurant employment. Most of the money is coming from FEMA.
