If nothing was done anywhere in the world how many would covid have killed ... the big question in my mind

half the deaths in Canada were in old folks homes so even if you said fuck them its time to die

what about the other half who were not old enough to be in an old folks home ?

both my parents passed & have already been committed to the deep

We are all completely baffled. The businesses affected by the Executive Order have no real benefit and only further people getting together closer than 6ft.

I understand this is very complex and subjective and you certainly don’t have to answer here. But I have a few friends that yanked their parents out. Major life upheaval, but livin in sci fi times.

I’m very artistic but have zero tattoos. Prolly time to change that.
I have bourbon if you know someone with a chair open.
I can roll over 200, but I’m no ringer.

Well you can't figure that out until you know the real death rate and we don't yet. It seems sure to be well under 1% but nobody can say yet. But if it was 1% that would be a shitload, 80 million or so assuming everybody gets it eventually. But it doesn't look like 1%, so who knows.

Trump wants his voters to die. Hopefully not until after the election but if they go early he's okay with that.

    Chinese Rat Flu

I’m baffled that CO is opening salons, barbers and tattoo parlors on Monday. How can you do any of those things with physical distancing? And moving from Stay At Home to Safer At Home? That moves seems to be confusing everyone and opens an invitation to just do whatever, even though the rules under Safer At Home are basically the same. I don’t get why they Stay At Home order wasn’t extended with waivers for certain businesses to reopen instead of this new move that isn’t clear. It’s clear to me but people are stupid.

I have no tattoos, love bourbon and love rolling frames.

I too am no ringer, but I've got my own custom ball from a college-era "no-tap" Miller Lite sponsored league we were in. $4.95 pitchers of Icehouse and Miller Lite and 9 pins on the first toss is a strike; what's not to like?

We can hang once this is all over.

    Woah, woah, woah.

    That's OUR game.

We may be the 4th state in the union, but I'll be damned if I let some hippie dippie 38th state like Colorado beat us to the punch in kicking infections into high gear again.

Not sure if this has been posted, but holy shit, Las Vegas sure has a twit for a mayor (she's independent, so I'm not polyassing here); behold the multiple video clips of the interview at the above link.
Goodman also implied that testing for the virus was some sort of conspiracy.

“No, that can’t work,” she told Cooper. “We’re not getting the truth, and I know over the years, going back to the 1950s with the atomic bomb, ‘Don’t worry about more testing in Nevada. You’ll all be fine. Take a shower.'”
Granted, it's kind of hard to tell the difference between atomic bomb tests and COVID-19 tests.

For those with Showtime, check out show “The Knick”. Puts medical science progress in perspective. Mildly entertaining too.

    I got ya

No, it's really quite fantastic. No bullshit 1 pin clean-ups to get a spare; just call it good as a strike. More time to drink $4.95 pitchers of beer in 7oz pounder glasses from the lounge that just went "smoking exclusive" meaning you used to be able to smoke in the whole bowling alley but now it's just a framed-in 24x24' area inside the bowling alley. You know, like a peeing area in a pool.

Anyway, I got the ball, I got a title or two with the High Rollers, I got the jersey, and they served jell-O shots too. Not a bad time. There were even hot bartenders who basically let us take over the muzak, PA system and hold spent kegs that we killed over our heads like we won the God damned Stanley Cup.

IMHO we saw the turn today. Newsom cowered when the turtle let it be known the senate wasn't going to bail out states.

Somebody on staff did a bit of quick math and succinctly concluded the state can't afford to have the majority sidelined.

Its why the testing algorithm works better with a rtPCR and a serology test in combo- occasionally in the early stage you can be rtPCR neg but serology pos, and most always these are converting rtPCR pos on later retesting.
Thanks for correcting. I was using the data from MV's HUG study which explicitly specified the 20 day post symptomatic period. (I hadn't seen that specification before)

Appreciate the breakdown. You've been a godsend to this bleak thread.

No shit, I'm being told daily in interactions with clients, colleagues at the statehouse and at other firms that the massive film industry here is behind the push to reopen things here. Y'allywood needs it's cash, yo!
