I don’t have to deliver the news but I know a lot of the people’s life situations. Ultimately I had to decide who stayed and went and with it being 80+ people there’s no way to avoid laying off a single mom, someone that just went through a divorce or a single earning head of household.

    Makes my stomach turn.

Been waiting for a couple weeks now for a big container. None available. Seems like everyone is getting to the big cleaning out projects.

At this point I'm looking at the almost $300 I've earned in the last month being about double what I'm going to take home after this month. When you work on commissions and there's nothing going on it really hurts. It also really sucks when you can't even apply for any of the "assistance" that's (sort of) happening.

Tell bike shop owners in NY that they don't need to be afraid of the sales rep from the downstate hot zone and that I should be allowed to travel and visit their stores. Yeah, that's not going to work I think it's time to reinvent myself again. Tough to do at 53 for the second time in 5 years but apparently that's what needs to happen. I absolutely appreciate the sentiment, thanks. Hopefully I won't have to take you up on the offer.

Since this is the complaint thread, I have one. Ever since this virus shit has shaken up the markets, the mortgage biz has gone in the shitter. My usual sources, that I submit loans to, are priced way out in left field now, as they are taking huge losses at this time. That means I have had to shift to some new investors to continue to offer my clients the best rates available. I am over these new inept companies. The stress of dealing with them has me ready to retire, so I won't be quoting their pricing anymore. Ya, my pricing will stink for awhile, but I will be able to sleep at night again and fuck off all day while dead.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

Ouch. Sorry to hear that. My income is down 75% because my base salary is more of a formality and I own stock in the company, so when we make money I make money. And when things are good it's really good, but we aren't making money now. And yeah, I don't qualify for any assistance due to my income level last year. On the other hand, I'm in the middle of divorce mediation and this shit is kind of hilarious in terms of perfect timing.

Brilliant. Low valuation. Lay low. Spring into action after the covfefe and after the divorce decree.

    Coronavirus complaint/commiseration thread.

How many ski industry companies applied for and received PPP loans that do not need it, ie covid19 has not yet affected their biz or will not be affected.

I’d venture to guess there aren’t any industries this hasn’t infected.

I remember you turned me on to that place all those years ago, I was in there twice, awesome place. I never thought about ordering from them. I'll have to see about that at some point.

I’ve heard of some manufacturing industries (brands) that currently (apparently) are experiencing zero problems but are eligible to receive ppp loans.

In the application you have to swear the rat flu affected your biz. Just a general statement.
No lost sales proof. No lay-off evidence.

Ski sales are dead this time of year so you are right it has not affected their biz much. Yes I know of some who have applied anyways. The 'will not be affected' is doubtful. I don't see people getting their spending power back 100% before fall. And if they do, a bunch will start saving cash for the next wave. Justifying new skis or jacket will be hard for the middle class. (Businesses that sell ski jackets and also year-round apparel are definitely hit.)

The State of Utah encouraged ALL businesses to apply. I think it's a strategy of keeping UT strong of course, but for each biz owner, who are in good shape, are still thinking, 'if we don't apply, our competitors will'. It's stupid not to apply, even if it's also morally stupid to do so.
