If that’s true, then why did it take so long to see NYC, NOLA, to get to the current crisis levels etc...
I’ve wondered if “it’s been here a long time” , but I think if it actually was , then we would have seen the NYC et al, situation develop earlier..
As I pointed out, I’ve wondered if it was here earlier, but I’m doubting that because I think the crisis situations would have presented earlier if it was.

Was what I said that disjointed? I wasn’t trying to start shit with you, I was serious...but I’ve had a few HG beers, so maybe I need to edit.

I’ve been one to actually think that CV19 , might have been here since January...daughter had textbook symptoms. I’m contending that if it actually was here in January that we would have already seen the overrun in places like NYC, that we are seeing now...

To put simply, I’m questioning the idea that CV19 was here in Jan.

Ok...maybe it’s the beer. I called you an Ahole last week Benny and disagree with a lot you say, but this wasn’t my point here,

IMO, it’s the density, the stress people are under there, the air quality and the subways/busses/elevators/tight grocery stores. Mainly the density. It’s a dirty fucking city with people on top of one another. I rode the subways and lived there for 6 years and I’m not a germaphobe but I was disgusted! Subway rides to and from home were awful during rush hour. Sometimes I’d be pressed so tight against the mass of people in the subway cars, I thought I was going to have a panic attack. There were weeks on end when this could have been passed around just on the subways themselves. Not to mention tight elevators, tight stores and restaurants with no room between tables.

I think covid somehow hopped from an animal to a human in china and was brought by people traveling in an airplane, there was just a great carrier or carriers

In any case you folks got the highest deaths per country and your death rate per million people is on the rise

Yeah, I knew about all of them and what they did, but wouldn't recognize them on the street. Not that they are walking the streets these days.

As an aside, my knee surgeon remembers times around the kitchen table with his dad, Salk and Sabin, talked polio. His dad stayed in Kansas (I think) to treat the masses while the other two wised up and got out of Dodge. The rest, as they say, was history.

That guy is a dipshit, now for the real stories.

I've mentioned this before, but there's a great book about the development of inoculation called "The Speckled Monster", a really fantasic read about the medical pioneers who figured out how to stop smallpox.

Both Lady Mary Wortley Montagu and Dr. Zabdiel Boylston developed inoculation independently, Boylston, an untrained "country doctor", man of the people and Lady Montagu, an educated member of Bristish Royal society.

Each were subject to much harassment and disrespect and each took the greatest risk any person could ever take in testing out their cures.

I think Boylston was the real pioneer and Jenner picked up after him.

Good, good to question it. Because it is not true that it has been here [there] (i.e., Charlotte) since January. If it had been, a significant portion of the population would have been dead by now.

So, off to bed, and remember to chug a glass of water with your tooth brushing. You are going to have to get up in the middle of the night to pee anyway after all that beer.

OTOH Seoul has a population density twice that of NYC and they've recorded TWO deaths from COVID-19.

"Part of the reason you are seeing Sheriff's stand up to the Governor's orders is because unlike Police Chiefs, Sheriff's are elected by the people and are considered generally to be more stringent enforcers of the US Constitution, when it comes into conflict with state laws or mandates."

Seriously? I guess the kind of BS you expect from a talk radio station.

A diversion--on the subject of Dr. Jenner et al, I've always been fascinated by medical and especially surgical history. My favorite is Ephraim McDowell. The description of the successful abdominal operation--done on his kitchen table on the Kentucky frontier when the greatest surgeons in Europe had been unsuccessful--boggles my mind.

You knew Jonas? Great guy! He was always making time for me. When he passed back in 95, I was gone- up north running Western States. I was deeply saddened when I returned and heard the news. Me and my buddy Carol (librarian at the Salk) seemed to be the only people there who gave a shit.
