I´ve owned two pairs of 187 GPO. The first one with nylon top (loved it) and the first veneer release (hated it, couldn´t get them to turn so I sold them). Emailed with Keith about it now a few years later and he said he had tried a new thicker edge which unfortunately made a few pairs of skis come out edge high which would explain my issues. He also said he likes the 182 more than the 187 and me being only 5´8 and 140lbs I figure I may as well try the 182. Also had the 117mm Concept and liked it but sold it a few years back. Have been itching to get back on them since I sold them. The Concept is one of very few skis I have ever regretted selling. With Keith hardly selling any Concepts I decided to get on a pair before/if they get discontinued. Have had two pairs of Protests that also got sold, the last pair last year and I hadn´t planned on getting a new pair until I went through the computer and remembered runs like this:
The fun starts at about 40 seconds

As for the FRS, what can I say, I´m a sucker for new stuff.

I have a pair of GPO from the first run of veneers, and as I recall they were slightly edge high as well. I corrected that and those are prob my favorite skis ever.
Nice video! If that doesn't ruin the work day I don't know what will.

Me. I went from 4 to 3. Prefer 3, planes a little better. Still cuts through chop well. I know lots others prefer the other way around though.

    Favorite skis evah!

So, with a pair of 182/#4/MAP-Carbon/Nylons (currently mounted for touring but previously used inbounds), along with a pair of 187/#4/Enduro/Veneers which I replaced with 182/#4/Enduro/Veneers, I've become convinced that much of the Billy Goat's goodness comes from bamboo's mass and damping - that RES's contribution to chop performance (while good) is overvalued.

I suspect that this is likely why @Iggy is reluctant to lighten up his touring layup.

The veneer GPOs significantly close the gap to the BG, and I suspect that a heavy hitter/Veneer GPO would be too close to the GPO in this regard to care about any residual differences.

This has me considering selling my 2014 Goats - mainly 'coz I hate so much overlap as well as having to think which skis to load in the roof box. Of course, the last pair of BGs I sold, I regretted, so there's that

    Japow envy follows ...

I've wondered this as well. I'm pretty happy with my 4 flex but have wondered what a 3 would be like but decided against it because I'm bigger and like to ski fast in steep places. What's your height/weight/ski style/terrain preference?

I think so. I had old 188cm and those were a 3 flex as I recall, and the current big reds are 4 flex in 192cm.

When does the custom sale end?

And are the discounts a thing of the past? I think so, but just confirming.

Still torn between 192 Protest with veneer or 188 FRS for resort pow...

Assuming you mean discount/referral codes? Yes I believe those are no longer.

Not the norm around here but I've wondered about the lower Praxis flexes - anyone skied a 2 or less? I wouldn't really consider my PJ @ 3 flex, heavy/carbon/veneer a playful ski at all.

Would really like to try a 185 SKI on different ends of the flex spectrum. The cool thing about it is depending on the flex, this could potentially replicate two skis I absolutely love. At a 2 flex (maybe), they'd be similar to the old 13'-14' Line SFB, at a ~3/4 flex they'd be similar to the 14'-15' Nordica Patron.

The rocker profile of The SKI is nothing like the SFB or Patron. Like, nothing. I'll post some pictures later. It's a more traditional tip/tail compared to those heavily rockered skis.
That said it's a great shape, just not like those skis you mention.

My wife has a 163 Le Petit which I believe stock flex is a 1 or 2. Granted she is small and not an aggressive skier. Hand flexing them they are soft as expected but not noodles. A good balance of support but very easy going. She thoroughly enjoys them and I ordered a 2.5 flex GPO for her next year.

Not exactly first hand experience but a positive one.

5’9, 190lb (athletic). I like to charge on open faces and through chop. In trees i like to billy goat around a lot more. Not 100% tip driver (little more upright), but definitely like to be forward.

I have not experienced tip dive on these flex 3s, mounted -1.5, compared to my old 192 flex 4s mounted on the line.

It may be more so a result of mount change than flex - I absolutely hated the 188s I had (at any mount point) which were pretty soft. Not sure why, other than the day I took them out it was in very heavy sticky snow (2ft) low angle skiing at Northstar. I have never fallen more in a day than I did then, if I was even moderately forward I’d somersault (even at -2 to -3cm begins the line). Sold them after 1 day. Still a mystery to me, nothing like my 192s. Lots of people love the 188 though.

To be honest, I do not like the protests in heavy/wet pow (particularly low angle slopes). The tips like to submarine if you get too forward or aren’t booking it, and I hate that feeling. I much prefer pintail/fat tip pow skis like Lhasa Fats or Cease and Desists in those situations

In light density pow, protests are sweeet. Can get more into the snow without getting the over the handlebars feeling. They are also superb in anything steep or tight trees, and cut through chop very well if you angle them on edge a bit.

How loose do you find SKI tails? Can you flick sideways fairly easily? Or do you find them more locked in?

I’m starting over my Tahoe quiver and am debating FRD, MVP, or SKI to replace Fischer Ranger 102s as daily driver. And if SKI is quick to pivot it gets the nod I think.

Has anyone on here had any experience with the MVP 94? Father in law is interested for a 75% piste/25% off piste daily driver around Seattle.
