No. I'm saying Phil gets to go get his turnips. Other guy chose to hang out inside.

Sure, a few mongorians sneak inside here and there perhaps but they are quickly defeated. The city continues to eat thanks to Phil being willing to risk his neck for those stupid turnips and not starve to death with the siege going on outside.

The latest high quality data (ie randomized placebo controlled, not anecdotal evidence) is bad, no efficacy seen with any small molecule treatment regardless of the nature of the endpoints. There were some cardiac events though so treatment has the potential for being worse than standard of care...

Maybe Phil's a healthy young buck who can fend of a few lousy mongorians with no worries.

Maybe Phil brings it back in, and it kills the younger doctors and waifs and nymphs.

It's absolutely adorable that Austin thinks he'd still have a job and the economy would be fine if we took the "take it on the chin" approach. It's understandable, though. Psychological studies consistently find that the stress of financial insecurity reduces people's intelligence by 10-15 IQ points.

Option B we starve ourselves and pray the super weapon we're building is viable in the next 18 months and pray that Genghis's meaner son Kublai also doesn't come attack us in that meantime"

Uhm thats true for any type of strong emotion. love, fear, stress.

Stress is particularly deadly though, so yeah we're killing people with Covid fear.

The most amusing part of this argument, was if all those good ol Trump loving truckers lived under the same fear mandate. The supply chains would have broken 6-8 weeks ago.

    Hear Hear!

And giving a person a respectful ear, and then providing a measured, meaningful response, even if it is contradictory, is a healthy part of a community relationship. I may not agree with many of my neighbours, but a respectful and considerate attitude is almost always returned. No one is an island, and all that.
My immediate neighbour had parent that was raised in war-torn europe (sitting with old Tony drinking homemade vino -rest his soul- was second only to doing the same with my own father) Tony's son and kids have lived next door since I moved here and now have the house, and we are polar opposite in political views similar to KQ's relationship. Do we frustrate each other in many ways? Hell yes, volumes would fit in the shit that annoys you thread. But if something is needed that the other can provide, even if the recipient doesn't know at the time, and it is provided. More shit (that is important) connects us than separates us, but it takes disasters like these to appreciate it sometimes.

I've been watching the first season of Star Trek during the quarantine, and I haven't seen the Mongorian episode yet, but I know it's coming.

Have you met many truckers? How many dead, hospitalized, or otherwise too sick to work truckers does it take to break those supply chains?

Give it a few weeks and months, I'm sure this is just the beginning. No doubt there will be all kinds of stories about who ended up getting relief funding as well.

One can only imagine how much of that money is being funneled to offshore accounts and then to the Trump and Kushner family. It's so easy. The whole infrastructure of tax avoidance that's been established over the last fifty years is just churning right now.

You validate people with fucked up views like that by even giving them the opportunity to bend your ear.

Susanville area--- Lassen County. Definitely not a part of California. The only place I've ever been outside of TX where you get respect and admiration for being from Texas. more than one rancher has told me "We love Texas. There's no public land there!!"

THIS! People are seeming to forget that somehow their "turnips" are magically appearing at the grocery stores thanks to the "Phils" out there still harvesting, hauling, distributing, etc.

Then they wanna chastise anybody who's not willing to tuck tail and hole up forever, sucking their thumbs in fear...

    Boomers be like:

PS: Anyone taking my weak trolling attempts too seriously needs to lighten up. During these bizarre times, a little light-hearted ribbing does everyone's mental health some good.
