    Our worlds are getting smaller.....

The White House has advised people not to gather in groups of more than 10.

When you read real life instructions for doctors to reuse masks from room to room, and even day to day (yes, Virginia, just store that mask in a paper bag), you might just want mask production increased.

LOL!!! I am speaking from what I would want were I her. I know last night when I was stressing and trying to relax enough to sleep I was very happy to have my cats snuggled up beside me purring. I think they knew.

Might also want to have the wife switch to some nice herbal tea and get her some of her favorite cookies to go with the couch snuggle flick fest. Get the kids in on it too with everyone under a nice fluffy blanket. Sounds heavenly to me.

Huh, I need to be a better husband then. My wife posted 10 reminders about being a Mom on our fridge last year so she wouldn't go insane. I then posted one for me based on hers....

    Example:
Her #1: Take one day at a time.
    My #1: Only drink today.

Regrets, we all have them...time to try the hug technique instead.

It's funny, you accidentally quoted me instead of basinbeater, but I could easily have been in the same situation. AC has had issues with anxiety for a long time. Almost exactly a year ago that culminated in a full-blown panic attack, which finally prompted her to get some counseling and make some other life changes that have drastically improved her ability to cope. So, so thankful that issue came to a head a year ago--things could be ugly right now.

I’m waiting for that. While we all complain about sitting in our heated homes, with internet, and take out, those people are not going to fair well

My Dad, god bless him, sent me a chain email about the luck of the Irish and if i forward the email it to 20 people I'll have 3 years of good luck. If anyone wants to avoid this virus, PM me your email and we will get through this together safely!

And naturally, it's in massive green font where I have to scroll to read more than 6 words at once.

Doesn’t seem to me like we are doing much over here in DE! Perhaps we are doing a better job behind the scenes but daily life isn’t to interrupted (yet).by the way I’m incredibly nervous!

Not talking about for use in hospitals, the average person does not know how to properly where one of those masks in the first place. Hand sanitizer is a bit more idiot proof.

A few important pieces of information, some new, some from posts in the other thread.

No, the White House didn’t ‘dissolve’ its pandemic response office. I was there.
    https://www.washingtonpost.com/opini...sponse-office/
"It has been alleged by multiple officials of the Obama administration, including in The Post, that the president and his then-national security adviser, John Bolton, “dissolved the office” at the White House in charge of pandemic preparedness. Because I led the very directorate assigned that mission, the counterproliferation and biodefense office, for a year and then handed it off to another official who still holds the post, I know the charge is specious."

Text message rumors of a national #quarantine are FAKE. There is no national lockdown. @CDCgov has and will continue to post the latest guidance on #COVID19. #coronavirus
    https://twitter.com/WHNSC/status/123...292748292?s=20

Over half the deaths in the entire USA are in King County (37).
Of those, 78% (29) are associated with Life Care Center of Kirkland.
    https://www.kingcounty.gov/depts/hea.../15-covid.aspx
From my reading of their website, LCC Kirkland is a nursing home that specializes in elderly patients fresh out of the hospital from major operations.

If you're wondering why the disease has spread so quickly in northern Italy, this is likely related:

The little town of Prato has been taken over by Chinese stuff. I had a look around
    https://www.ecnmy.org/engage/prato-c...f-look-around/
"There’s a city in Tuscany, less than an hour by train from Florence, called Prato. Prato has been the one of the largest textile manufacturing bases in Europe for ages. If you’ve bought a shirt or blanket in Italy in the last century and a half, odds are the fabric came from Prato. ... ‘Prato has evolved and grown in terms of population, but the majority… how can I say it… the majority it’s all Chinese. That ‘something’ that there was before isn’t there anymore, Prato’s traditions, the feasts… on the 15th of August we used to go to Feast of Santa Maria, we’d eat watermelons, you’d go there and see all the people from Prato… now what you see, it’s mostly managed by [the Chinese]….’"

It isn't just Prato. Northern Italy has a huge population of Chinese immigrants, many from Wuhan, as well as a very old native population.

And what the fuck is up with the scale on the vertical axis?
The reason for "days since tenth death" is that tests for coronavirus aren't very accurate, and not very many people are being tested early on. There are a lot of false positives and false negatives. Thus, the "days since first death" could depend substantially on random chance.

The vertical scale is logarithmic. It's very common when graphing data with a wide range of outcomes.

(Maybe people who have never seen a logarithmic graph need to have less strong opinions about the mathematics of viral outbreaks...just sayin'.)

A person at the station was filling up jerry cans of gas and putting them inside the hatchback of their little car in between the groceries. Tooons of Texan license plates around and some WA too. Didn’t see the plate on the hatch.

Canada announces it will exclusively import COVID-19 from US

    https://www.thebeaverton.com/2020/03...id-19-from-us/

OTTAWA – Prime Minister Justin Trudeau announced today that all forms of coronavirus coming from outside from the country must come from American citizens.

“Today, we are announcing that any person infected with COVID-19 not exhibiting symptoms must be a Canadian, a permanent resident of Canada, or a citizen of the United States,” said Trudeau in a press conference held outside his house. “Trading with the United States, whether it’s steel, lumber, or deadly diseases, is critical to Canada. We need to maintain this important free-trade relationship.”

With the rising levels of cases and evidence of community-acquired infections, the government of Canada is protecting its citizens by relying on its neighbour whose President appears to be living in a different universe.

“The borders are closed to everyone, unless they’re citizens of a country with no functioning healthcare system for anyone who isn’t a millionaire,” said Trudeau.

    I may not make it.

I made him listen to Trump and now he’s not talking to me.

People are fleeing Eastern cities to try retreating to their Summer homes here in Coastal Maine. One local offshore Island says NO!

That's a nice fluff piece from one person that tries to directly deflect the blame to from Trump to China.

Can find plenty of other sources refuting this. But that's polyass material. You could start by reading the snopes' summary which has links to the relevant articles showing that the administration did indeed disband the pandemic response team.

    vibes.
