Agreed. I would ski em. There's no better feeling than dropping into Spanky's on a powder day with a pair of Billy Goats straped to your feet.

Whole lotta truth in that statement!!

Ski em — it’s what he would have wanted I’m sure!

    Yes.

If you are already rocking the caylors, you will love the Bgs. Later years got a little more dialed in, but it will not be a big leap for you. They are very intuitive and easy to ski.
Honestly, I would be smiling from the grave if I knew my daughter was finding bliss on my coveted sticks. Knowing how much I covet my goats without that sentimental connection, your story just takes it to 11. Honor yourself and your pops and ride those in beautiful places, you will have a guardian angel with every turn. Report back and let us know how it goes!

Ski em! If they don’t work out after you giving em a real solid attempt (several days), hang em up on the wall, they’ll make ya feel good every time you walk by em.
Fear, Doubt, Disbelief, you have to let it all go. Free your mind!

    Amen!

My mom's poles sit behind my chair. I wish she was still using them, but behind my chair is the second best place for them. If they were long enough I would use them; I even tried one day.

I realize that time has past, however condolences on your father, loosing a parent sticks with a person.

Keep his BG's, remount and ski them.
Give them more of a chance than you would any other random pair of skis. If they still aren't working, I would suggest still keeping them as a reminder of what brought your father joy. The graphics on the BG has often boarder-lined fine art (IMO - ymmv), they might be equally right at home mounted (please don't drill thought them) on your wall.

About me: 5'5", 125lb, F. Living in Whistler, but travel to the interior and rockies. Comfortable on double blacks that don't have mandatory drops (thanks knee). Aggressive but clearly without any technical training to back it up. Happiest in the trees. My current powder ski is the 171 Caylors from 2011/12 - these are great for a surfy big snow day, but I tend to wish I had something more directional (or maybe longer) for the next couple days. I tried to fit the Armada Norwalks into this gap a few years back, but sold them because they weren't handling chop and crud any better than the Caylors did. I now use my father's old 174 Viciks from 2011/12 as a daily driver and am mostly happy between the two pairs (plus a touring ski). But of course more skis is always better, especially when they're free.

The question comes with what to do with his 176 BGs. I think they're also the 2011/12 model, although he bought them a year later. These things were his babies so I'm reluctant to sell them. That said, the bindings won't adjust to fit my boots, and I don't want to get them remounted to my tiny-ass BSL if there's a 95% chance they're going to kick my ass. Almost all the reviews are from guys with at least 50lbs and half a foot on me, so it's tough to judge. His Viciks work well, but they're enough ski that I have to stay on top of them. I get the sense anything much more substantial will take me for a ride the second I start to get tired. The whole reason I bought Caylors was because I was too much of a wimp to try the BGs.

Am I a fool if I try to ski the BGs?
Should I leave my pride intact and sell them while they're still on their first mount?
Is it bad juju to sell a dead guy's favourite skis?
little feedback from someone about your size, keep the BG you will regret selling it! I’m 5’5” / 140 and spent a couple of seasons on a 176 2014 BG, think it was second to last year before it changed to asym design, later I got an asym 179 bg and it’s still feel quite comfortable at that size.

The ski was a blast and I was very happy with them! I don’t think you will have problems skiing it given you like the Caylors and 174 Vicik.

    Remount them, ski them!

You are by no means alone here. Viciks punish you for getting in the back seat.

Where have all the Steeple's gone? I am trying to track down a pair of 108mm to 116mm Steeples in 184cm range. Hopefully not too many mounts, I am looking to put some 22designs Lynx bindings on them. I am aware of the 189 116 on PDX craigslist, the price is nice, but there are a lot of mounts. Anyone got a pair collecting more dust than powder?

There was one 112 in 184 in SLC with one mount for Rad2. I was looking for Steeples, but ended up with BG Tour instead.

Lo and behold, I recently came to the conclusion that I may not be in love with my 184 Steeple 108s enough to hold on to them. Wasn't sure how much interest there would be though. Bought new in fall '17 and drilled once for... wait for it... Outlaws.

    We should talk.

    Just to add.

A good friend I ski with a lot is only a little bigger than you and she skis 176 BG everyday and if I ever suggest she ski something else, she gives me this “how dare you” look.

Pretty sure you’re already going to do that, but remount and ski confidently.

Billy goats with 2 mounts still sell well around here.

They are out there as posts above indicate. If those fall through post a WTB thread in gear swap and keep bumping it until something happens. It took about a month before I landed a minty pair 189, 116’s with very low hours and a single mount. Skied on them today, pretty stoked.

Yep, found some pretty quick actually, thank you to those who reached out. Wawawa had almost exactly what I was hoping to find. And with only one mount that I can reuse, bonus!!! I have been casually looking for a pair for a while, but it is time to get the Lynx setup on the snow. Very few Steeples have turned over recently, searches on TGR and Craigslist have not revealed many options. Figured I'd ask here because this is where the fellow ON3P hoarders hang out. A WTB in gear swap was the next option, but that opens me up to a bunch of Jerrys attempting to unload shit I am not looking for.
"Hey Dude I have some Black Diamonds I am looking to get rid of"
"Get the fork out of here with that shit"

Ok for some discussion, skiing ON3P telemark? There are a few of us odd balls out there. Have any of you found a combination that is spot on? I have had three variations, that have been fun, but never perfect which leads me to keep tweaking. So what sort of flex do you like? Mounting on the line or back a few cm? How do you like to detune the ski? I am leaning towards the softer flexes, more aggressive detuning than Alpine, and mounting back a centimeter or two. As futile as having a quiver of 1 ski is, I have been narrowing down to that one that works best for me.

Until last year I tele'd with Garmont ener-G and OG hammerheads. File detune tips and tails + gummi. Iggy always recommended on the line - I was never disappointed. 6'2" 180. I want the tails to release, but not wash out, if that makes sense. my .02 is stay on the line.

my BG's, tour BG's, pillow fights, caylors, wrens - were all set up like this, with blanket success.

I'm only touring (no pass) - maybe the resort conversation would be different. Generally in pretty soft snow - so I also prefer a softer flex (C&D, Pillows). Steep open lines or spring stupidity gets the supergoat.

ymmv. take with a boulder of salt, I've since fixed the (problem) - but this worked great for me for a long time.

by the way HH's just sitting around now, if you're interested
