I would say, shoot Keith an email and ask what he recommends.
And don't drink the poly.

"If the road You followed brought you to this,of what use was the road"?
"I have no idea what I am talking about but would be happy to share my biased opinions as fact on the matter. "

What's that quote attributed to Mark Twain?
"I would have written you a shorter letter, but I didn't have the time".
Looking back at some old posts ... yeah, a bit wordy.
Back to our originally scheduled programming ... I foresee a continuing quest for various flavors of GPOs.
Before @I've seen black diamonds! 187 GPOs swam by, I was having Summer wet dreams about a 182 / UL / Veneer GPO for touring. Right now, I'm running a MAP/ Carbon / Nylon pair in 182 & love them.
All the new cool stuff Keith is coming out with, and we tend to forget the classics. Praxis Rx, anyone?

I rip the groomed on tele gear
I'm loving my 182s with Vipecs. I'm thinking that with Colorado snow I can go to UL, switch to Plum Guides (or something similar) and knock about 2.5 Lbs. off the rig.
I could also just get in better shape ;-)
Any "negatives" about the GPOs inbounds (i.e. could be better in chopped up pow) are irrelevant to me in BC ski.
My two faves to date for all around goodness are the Down CD 114s and the GPOs.
If you could ski on a desert island, they'd be my desert island skis.

Sorry for the derail - but that quote is attributed to a metric shit ton of different fellows, from ancient Greece to 20th century politicianshttps://quoteinvestigator.com/2012/0...horter-letter/
and yes - as one that can drone on for a bit - being precise and concise is hard, especially if one tries to explain ones reasoning.
To prevent further derail - EXP tips

Anyone been on a pair of "The Ski" . An RX in a 100 waist package and 184 length sounds like an awesome daily driver for us low-snow people in CO.
So Keith wrote back and commented that exposed veneer wasn't as big of a deal as he thought it might be.
On occasion, he's used spar varnish to good effect. I didn't ask what he uses to finish new skis with.
For the record, I dug this thread up (and sent it along to Keith) where Iggy comments about clear coats: https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/...dations-needed
And yes (regarding the above tips), the EXPs are real sleepers. Almost got out on them last week, but with 60mph gusts on a boulder field, we decided that risking a sprained ankle wasn't worth it for 300' of vert. We turned back.

UL 187 GPO with veneer remains one of my all time favorite shapes and flavors. Couldn’t help chiming in on the gpo talk above.

Gravity always wins...
I'm going to Japan and so it's time to buy my first praxis and it will be a protest, I remember that they do some discounted sales, quite sure I've missed the best ones, but when is generally the next one?
The clear epoxy will be a more durable finish, requiring less maintenance down the road. Which also mean less exposure to solvents/chemicals. It will also remain clear, specifically, the ones mentioned by Iggy in linked thread. Spar varnish will be amber(and probably yellow during storage), softer, slower to dry(the epoxy catalyzes).
Somewhere there is a thread where Iggy goes through his sealing process.
Post #8, etc, on this thread:
https://www.tetongravity.com/forums/.../322240-Veneer
Thanks for the link @lucknau. I knew there was another thread on the topic. Damn search function.
Yeah, I should just bite the bullet, and find a friend's place to use rhe epoxy so there's no risk om my wife being exposed to it.
Good point the the epoxy will cure and not outgas as well.

Does Kieth offer the sale on customs at any other time of year (other than the end of the season)? I cannot get the protest out of my thoughts and I’m curious to know before diving any deeper. Cheers maggs.
