That’s pretty much my cost as well and by far the best skiing I’ve experienced, terrain wise and damn near snow wise as well.
My plane ticket was $489rt plus $120 rt for my bag. My total for just myself was $2k. That’s for everything, all food and a $95 lift ticket for the day at st.moritz, train travel etc. This was for 7 days skiing and 8 nights lodging at Venduls.
Planning next year already and the wife is coming with me.

    EuroBBI20 potential itinerary:

    If Alagna has good snow:
Day 0 land; get to Rueras
    Day 1 - 5 Ski Disentis-Andermatt
Day 5 evening drive to Alagna if Alagna has snow (4 hours)
    Day 6, 7 Ski Alagna
Day 7 evening drive to La Grave (4 hours)
    Day 8-13 Ski La Grave
Day 13 evening drive to Rueras (6 hours)
    Day 14 Ski or Leave.

    If Alagna has bad snow:
Day 0 land; get to Rueras
    Day 1 - 6 Ski Disentis-Andermatt (Klosters/Bivio day trip options?)
Day 6 evening drive to La Grave (6 hours)
Day 7-13 Ski La Grave (Serre Chevalier/Milky Way/Queyras day trip options?)
Day 13 evening drive to Rueras (6 hours)
    Day 14 Ski or Leave.

We won’t be able to do the 14 day trip. Thinking 8-10 days due to vacation constraints. Sounds like a killer plan albeit.

    OK, good to know.
Is staying in Rueras the priority for most or is there any interest in road tripping to La Grave? We can flex on days.

I haven't skied that many places in Europe, but of the places I've been, it's a toss up between La Grave and Andermatt for my favorite.

We're in the same boat. Frankly, I could be very happy with just staying @ Mt-Lodge and skiing the area. Maybe ticking off Piz Maler this time when weather lines up. My SO ain't the skier that Shroom's wife is, but she likes going fast on groomers and drinking Aperol sprtizs.

I'd also like to day trip from here or there.

I feel like the La Grave trip for me would depend entirely on whether my SO is coming or not.

OK, not trying to force anything, just a suggestion.
I think the only thing that didn't work out was some people not getting to do the Oberalpstock because we weren't definAte about wanting a guide.

Despite its reputation, La Grave does have easier, advanced intermediate routes off the telepherique.

Other options including staying in Monetier Les Bains (Serre Chevalier) which is within 40 minute drive of La Grave or Claviere, Italy in the Milky Way, about an hour from LG. Both of those places would keep intermediates very happy and have an enormous range of snackateriums.

I don't think you're forcing anything. I think that La Grave sounds sweet and it is on my bucket list. It all comes down to what my employment looks like coming next year. I think your vision of continual exploration of the Alps is one I super admire.

Her eyes were about to put me under a spell but I’ll take full blame for being careless.

Next year for sure with my wife. Would be great to line up some Mt-Lodge with others. That’s all I need plus a day or two in San Moritz area and Michele’s (Vendul) company. He’s an added asset/bonus you would be hard pressed to get at other lodging.

The Ski Arena is hard to beat for price, access, terrain, conditions, and vibe. There are areas for every level skier plus it’s a ski-tour town if that’s your thing.

Last year, I got blocked in Engelberg when storms shut the highways and trains in late January.

Due to the kindness of a long time maggot, I was able to make it to Goeschenen by car and then Swiss Post bus where Dan Loutrel hooked me up with his family for a killer pow day at Airolo.

I’m planning on another 10 day stint in Rueras with maybe a 2-4 day side trip in St Moritz. There are a lot of lines off the tram at Corvatsch I want to ski next year. Plus maybe a day at that t-bar only place with the gorgeous women serving coffee. What was that place again, heaven?

La Grave sounds neat but not much for the wife to do both on the skiing front and other activities. The train is another nice benefit to Sedrun.

OK, but I suspect you just want to prance around with the fur clad glitterati in St. Moritz.

    ;-)

Be sure to do a day at Diavolezza/LaGalb too.

Wasn't part of the appeal of a second location that vendul can have a chance to ski and hang out without being responsible for hosting?

And what about any of the 20 or so lifts networks we saw in the dark while driving back from St Moritz?

I thought so. Let's let things evolve though, maybe the options of Serre Chevalier or the Milky Way haven't settled in.

Gotta say I was blown away by Klosters, about a 3 hour train ride from Sedrun. Bivio looks really cool too, as a bonus to the espresso girls. You'd have to ask vendul about what's worthy in that stretch.

I was to focused on staying in my lane and avoiding others in my lane to notice much. Lol! The drive was fun and I’d be down to load a van up and do it again.

Have been interested enough to keep looking at this thread. Thanks for pricking the interest Buster et al.

It seems that Sedrun is amazingly well-located. I mean CH has lots of resorts and I know only a few of them. But for my purposes as someone who is interested in skiing moderate on-piste and more aggressively off-pisted I looked at several resorts. The SBB train system and the Little Red train seem to have good connections from Sedrun to all the places one might want to hit.

Also from what I know sometimes Graubuenden is thin and Valais is fat and sometimes it's reversed because of storms. It looks like Sedrun being near Andermatt is near the Obergoms pass where the storms seem to diverge depending on weather direction.

Anyhow posting a general map as I was ruminating on possibilities for a future trip. Vendul's place looks prime for a central location

    I'll just put this here:

10 miles from Briancon on the left^^^, a walled city designed by Napoleons Military architect, to Monetier les Bains on the right ^^^. All skiable with 1200 meters vertical drop average.
15 miles from Monetier Les Bains to La Grave.

    A neat hotel in MLB:

    Briancon:

Monetier Les Bain is a 5.5 hour drive from Rueras; leave at 15:30, arrive at 21:00

That’s the good thing about our area, if you want you can storm chase... and the good thing is that most Europeans don’t
