We found some heaviness and crust on selected aspects that saw morning sun on the Sherwood side...

Definitely. Nothing heinous but wind effect and some sun had some set up the snow at alpine. Still good skiable pow tho.

Any scoop on what took so long getting summit open today? Sure didn't seem windy enough for that to be the main reason

I offered to pick my gf up at the Cal base after she rode lifts and I skied Trimmer. I'm a moron. It was easy enough to get here but it's a parking lot from here to Pioneer and beyond. There was a woman asleep in in the middle of ski run and no one was even honking because it hadn't slowed traffic at all.

She reported that Heav was super fun today.

An east wind generally closes Summit at 50 mph. Today, the remote sensor at Ward showed winds in the low 40's. That said, the chair uses a different wind sensor. If you have ever stood right at Summit terminal, it's almost as if you can feel the wind accelerate as it blows across the ridge. It would be the same thing that happens on an airplane wing. At least this is what a patroller mansplained to me a few years ago.. So it could have been at the trip speed at the Summit terminal and slightly less on ward peak.

Rose was ridiculous this weekend. Spent all 3 days in the white room. Got some laps in with Corky and even had a RacoonFace sighting.

There was a bit of sun effect on the lower slopes of Bernie’s Bowl/Pond Slope by the afternoon, but not too bad. Otherwise Summit was awesome once it ran, and Sherwood, Scott and the traverse past Waterfall from Roundhouse held some good scraps.

In regards to sun affected, definitely noticed the snow starting to set up in the 6300-to-7500 elevation at The Star today.
One co-worker told me it was actually snowing up at the top of Comstock lift around lunchtime, though.
Spent the bulk of my day skiing around the mid-mountain with a 4 y/o.
Surprisingly, most of the runs we did ("Flying Squirrel", "Overland Trail", "Homerun") were fairly empty (guessing everybody and their brother's mother's monkey was on The Backside).
I introduced her to powder, too.
Do face plants count as face shots?
Also only took me an hour to drive my 12-mile-usually-20-minute-commute home...

Nice work. I didn’t think that run was steep enough for the amount of snow we got.
