I mean, yes, so long as you're not so underwithheld that you get into the penalties.

Also, to Dan's question: TaxAct could be a good, cheaper alternative for you. It should handle your level of complexity without issue.

Know what's annoying? The IRS could do all this work for you and just send you a postcard or an email where you check their work for the year. They have all the W2s, 1099s, etc. They have computers set up to calculate the lines on the 1040 to check your efiled return. But the tax preparation lobby / the Republican Party won't let it happen.

The feds don't have your charitable contributions, state and local taxes, possible change in filing status, dependents, etc, etc, etc.

Few people have a new kid or change in marital status during the tax year. State and local withholding is right there on your W2. Charitable contributions don't matter unless you can itemize. And even in cases where, say, your prefilled 1040 is off because you need to itemize, you could log into IRS.gov, fill out one schedule, hit the recalculate and submit button, and be done with it. There are probably 50 million filers per year - easily - who are getting shaken down for 100 bucks by HR Block or TurboTax who should simply have that service provided by IRS.

Forget taxes. There are more important things to focus on. The word 'queef' is not valid in Words With Friends. WTFF??? Has the world gone mad???

I don't disagree, but many of them aren't smart enough to figure that out so let them keep subsidizing the rest of us who need the help I mean if it wasn't for them, I'd be paying thousands to get my taxes done. Not at HR or TT though.

Because dog poop is icky and gross and the snow covers it so it's like gone, right?

Besides, someone else will pick it up eventually.

    Annoying Airline Tricks

I've been pricing out flying to Norway this summer. Icelandair likes to tout their "free Iceland stopover" where you can stop in Iceland (all their flights pass through Keflavik airport in Iceland) for up to a week at no additional cost in airfare. Well, not exactly. When I price out a round trip using the stopover option it comes out about $200 more than if I add up the legs separately as one-way fares.

I've told the story before. When my dog was a puppy I caught him with one of his frozen turds dangling from his mouth. After several rounds of "drop it", he grabs it again, the best option at the time was to grab it from his mouth in my bare hand and trudge through the snow to huck it over the fence. Of course it started melting in my hand, as expected. I didn't have gloves with me and honestly, hands are easier to wash.

    That's usually me.

For every one my dog leaves, I pick up his plus 2 more.

Speaking of dog poo in the back yard. Come spring you guys must have a disgusting mess to clean up from the dumps left in the back yard that sunk in the snow.
Never in U.S. history has the public chosen leadership this malevolent. The moral clarity of their decision is crystalline, particularly knowing how Trump will regard his slim margin as a “mandate” to do his worst. We’ve learned something about America that we didn’t know, or perhaps didn’t believe, and it’ll forever color our individual judgments of who and what we are.

It all gets swept up when you rake the yard in the spring.

And this is coming from a guy with both a Dane and a Pyrenees. Those guys take bigger dumps than I do. I swear my Dane took a three pounder the other day, it broke the plastic handle on the poop scoop.

My Dane, Murphy Bleu, is so much worth it all.

After many months of toiling over the decision, the collective here helped me select a new phone to buy, felt pretty good about it, decided to finally bite the bullet, and upon ordering it... back-ordered with a "We'll notify you when it ships" message and no ETA from customer service. Been over week now, Best Buy. An update would be nice. THIS is why I hate ordering stuff online. I did go to the store and they told me I'd have to order it online, and nobody in town stocks it either. Getting impatient here! I know it's just a stupid phone, but my current phone's starting to act really weird and has been randomly dialing people from my call history and THAT is something to be annoyed about. Pretty embarrassing when I get a call from a client saying "You called me twice at like 6 AM. Is everything ok?" Uhhhhhhhhh....

Yup. Too bad nobody else could come close on the price. I tried, but none were willing to price match the deal so I thought I'd give BB a shot for once. Well serves ME right for thinking that BB could do something right. It's a good enough deal that I'm willing to wait it out a couple more weeks before cancelling my order, but still annoying to wait in limbo. Doesn't seem as bad when a company can at least give you an idea of when they're expecting another shipment to come in from the manufacturer.

NOW I remember why I settled for my el cheap-o phone last time! It was because Google couldn't get their supply issues figured out back then either with the Nexus 5X's I ordered then and ultimately gave up on. I ordered several for work, for myself and my employees. Well I got two out of my order, and gave one to my manager, and my wife dropped her phone in water right then and so I just gave her my new Nexus and got me a cheap temp phone. Then I never received the rest of that order so eventually cancelled after they announced the next model so my phone that never came in was already old news. That was ordering directly through Google. Supply chain issues are something that Apple seems to understand infinitely better than Google. Sheesh. Seems that iPhone users don't seem to have this much trouble. Half tempted to jump ship to them.
